Does anyone know what the current selling price is of Calor Gas Cylinders (6Kg and 13Kg) at APPROVED / AUTHORISED Distributors?
I am not asking about selling posts on Facebook, eBay or Gumtree, etc, but 'proper' distributors.

Going to a shop later this afternoon and curious to know what they are going to tell me and if it is line with Calors RRP (I presume Calor do have an RRP? There seemed to be a regular common price pre-pandemic).

I only got a refill for Christmas. So most probably out of date !. paid £ 27.50 for 7 kg blue
.5 kg used to be cheaper at £16. So swaped out bambi to 5kg bottle's.
When you get one put up cost so I know how much . Mate

Thanks for that link. Very useful.

So it should be .....

6kg Propane price:

New bottle: £66.74. Refill: £26.75.*

Those prices seem the same as 2+ years ago which is a bit odd though. Maybe Calor make so much mark up on bottled gas they haven't raised them!

Maybe so. Its only about 5 weeks ago I inquired about a 47kg and that had only gone up a couple of quid in what must be 3 years .

Some outlets have been applying supply and demand rates but I would think Calor depots would stick to RRP

I was quoted a smidge over £30 for 6Kg Propane Calor this afternoon - exchange only basis, no sale without old bottle and limited availability.

Even though the bottle prices have not got up massively compared to general gas prices, they are still notably more pricey than having a refillable option - 6kg at £30 works out to be £2.55/Litre - I filled up the Gaslow bottle on Saturday at Lindisfarne Services and this time it was £1.20/Litre so even though a fair bit more than a while ago, it is still less than half the price of exchangable gas.

Last 6KG bottle I got was at a C&CC site, it was £29.95.

Apparently C&CC sites have stopped selling them now because they can't agree a supply contract with Calor.

The Calor Link to prices does say.

* Prices shown are our Online Prices and includes VAT, unless otherwise stated. Prices may vary at local stockists.

My last fill was £0.797 per litre at Morrisons, Leyland.

The majority of bottled Calor suppliers around here are out of stock, having 4 motorhome / caravan dealers close by doesn`t help.

Always has been a big difference between bottled and lpg Dave that’s why I went for refillable even though a low user. 4 years ago a 6kg bottle was costing me £24 to exchange. Paid for itself a while ago and that’s with 6kg lasting 31 days 👍

My home supply of propane from Calor has gone up twice in a few months. The price is now 47.8 p per litre which equates to 93.7 p per KG. This means that a 6KG bottle holds £5.62 of gas, assuming they charge themselves a similar rate. Therefore you are probably paying over £20 for the cost of collecting the bottle, refilling it with a few £s worth of gas and then getting it back to the agent who then needs to make a profit from selling it.

In other words most of the cost of bottled gas lies in moving little bottles all round the country, not in the cost of the gas.

No doubt Calor will put up the price at the first opportunity and will blame wholesale lpg price increases. The world price of propane did go up but has now dropped back to the September 21 level but I am not holding my breath for Calor to reduce their domestic bulk supply price.

Problem is diesel price has gone up and that gets passed on to everybody on virtually everything if it is delivered at any point. Watched a news item a few weeks ago where a small haulage contractor said fuel rises would equate to £20,000 per vehicle per year and of course these had to be passed on.

Seems only the government wants to push inflation to make sure their share dividends are good.

I'm a really low gas user (would you say your 6Kg/Month is low though?) and haven't yet covered my Gaslow install costs but should do in the next year.

In France and Spain recently we were getting through 39 litres of gas in 7 weeks. Mostly Aires, only some with electric, a big fridge (6 foot tall with large freezer section) and hot weather of 24 to 30 degrees. Our Gasit system has paid its way over the years in convenience never mind cost of gas versus Calor.

Definitely low user, Charlie could get through a 13kg bottle in a weekend in winter in that big Hymer he had. Also, a lot of people with motorhomes, (maybe not those on here) don’t do 31 days out in a year :)
