Launching

There use to be a site that listed the various launching sites, the best way for a particular river is to find out who is the authority running or controlling the river. They normally have a website which includes such details plus any sailing/boating clubs have private launching areas that are friendly to outsiders for a small fee!

there is mumbles 2 launch slipways , think it costs 7quid a launch including parking .

I have a small yacht, moored at Weymouth - but I really fancy a canoe or somesuch that I can paddle on the Thames and further afield as well. (we saw someone paddling around the coves and inlets on the Lizard, Mullion in particular and I loved the look of it)

The Camping and Caravanning Club have a shortish article on one of the affiliated Clubs, the Canoe one in particular. Worth a read if you can.

Have just come back from Canalsmans site af Findochty on the Moray Firth. If you are ever as far north as that, it is a must. Safe launching from the beach within an hour or two of high tide, wonderful coastal scenery, and yesterday we had a pod of dolphins swimming with us. The only difficuly, avoiding all the inshore fishing boats and fishermen's creels:bow:
