The griddle plate on my Cadac barbecue has worn away so I looked at buying a replacement.

Looks like £40 for a new griddle plate, which strikes me as daylight robbery given you can get a whole new thingy for £90-ish.

But I suppose I’m disappointed it’s not lasted better. The coating has mostly come off and so maybe a new plate won’t last either. So is there anything better out there people use?

Perhaps a more conventional frying pan and/or ribbed frying pan would be a better option, Mark?
They're available everywhere and the big brands (eg Tefal) generally last a good deal longer than Cadac stuff.

Colin 😊😊😊

Some years ago I emailled Cadac about the griddle non stick coating & they sent a replacement. I have a couple of pieces of the non stick cooking sheet, one is cut the same size as the griddle the other is half the size. I like to use bbq sauce which tends to make a mess of griddle but easy to just wipe off the non stick sheet.
Decided to change the jet we have been using for years as it wasn't getting enough heat, found though it is now gets too hot. Might try for a slightly smaller one.

I got in touch with the corpse provider and got a very nice polite note back.

Basically, the problem stems from using it.

If you use it, it wears out; if you don't, it doesn't.

Quelle surprise.

Despite negative posts on Cadacs

WE LIKE our cadac.
8 years old with 6 summers (5 months) of high usage.
This summer we have used it every 3 days (ave).
Today a full meal.
Garlic bread
Grilled veg (x4)
Grilled pork.
We mainly use the smooth side of the grill plate.
Today the ribbed side.
Cleaned up well. Ready for tomorrow !
Our tip is to avoid scouring and use sufficient oil.
Ok like most BBQs not good in windy condotions.
Just our experience...
