What do you think? My new Burstner (March 2013) had a few minor issues all resolved efficiently by the dealer. However it has a bigger issue with the in van battery state read out display that the dealer despite changing various parts including display, batteries, and charger cannot resolve. The van is on can-bus wiring throughout which is fairly new thing which makes it tougher for the dealer to be fair as so few vans have at this moment in time.

Burstners solution is for me to take the van back to the factory in Germany and they pay for all fuel, tunnel and sites. As a gesture they will all give me a personal tour of the factory for my trouble. As time is not a big issue I think it's a great solution and am looking forward to the trip. As I'm happy that's all that matters. However wife thinks that's not on, your thoughts?

Go for it, so long as they pay all the out of pocket expenses, re fuel, ferry travelling etc, a good free holiday. If the wife doesn't want to go, we'll go with you to keep you company.:)

Showing my ignorance, whats can-bus wiring ?

If you are up for the trip sounds the best option. They should have all the diagnostic kit available so should resolve the problem.
Basically you are getting a free holiday to Germany.

Me I would take the offer quickly sounds like a wonderful viewing trip and interesting to boot.

I own a burstner and would jump at the chance to go to the factory. Think might be some extra add ons you might be able to buy cheaper straight from the factory. A trip not to be missed I think.

Swift invite

Hi phillybarbour,

I had a similar result with Swift after the failure of the third control panel on my 2009 Swift Escape that was on the end of its warranty and just before my trip to Europe.I offered to take it to their Hull Factory with some of the other unhappy owners to meet their new MD and to my surprise they told me in no uncertain terms on their Swifttalk customer site that I must not make threats to them.It seems the site is only for showing pictures of your vans, cats dogs lakes and campsites and not for customers that make waves.

Snowbirds.:rulez:

All Expenses Paid Trip To Germany, can`t be bad, can i have one as well please ?

I am not technical but can-bus wiring is where there is no big wiring loom just a single feed around the van with everything run from that using pulses rather than power to feed things. To the simple minded like me it means very few wires and most issues resolved from the plug a lap top and not at source.

Most new (new design rather than date of registration) cars are now on can-bus wiring.

Wrong bloke

I got an old Burstner and I think that offer was made for me knowing it would be very unlikely to make the destinatin. Go for it that sounds a great holiday in the making. Like Yorkieowl says we will keep you company.
.... Tom ....

Count me in too! I would definitely go for it. Make a list of absolutely everything you can think of that isn't 100%.

CAN Bus has been in main stream use in cars for 10+ years now and is straightforward to diagnose so I find it staggering that a Burstner dealer would go to the lengths of sending you to their factory. Any auto electrician could soon diagnose the fault at vastly less cost.

That been said if I was made the same offer I would jump at it.
