Brrrrr Frost Last Night

So soon the winter is here, we had frost here in Gloucster last night nothing too bad but reminded me its time to drain the heater.

Do any of our more experienced members have any sage advise for preparing the van for winter, I know I need to drain the heater but what about the cold water system?

Any other help would be appreciated :D

Yes drain everything if a severe frost is forcast, leave all taps open and lay the shower head in the shower tray. if you have an internal water tank you should be o.k unless exceptional -3 or below frosts are forcasts.......... but i had to replace a kitchen mixer last year..... £53:eek: because the sink lid closed the tap..... so always prop up the lid, with a couple of towels if you have a tap under a glass lid. If your van is recent, then the heater has an auto frost drain that kicks in at below 5c, thats the inside temp.

Thanks Rick, I'll go and open all the taps now, its going to Frost again. I know its not really cold enough but I may as well get in the habit now. Our tank is internal under the centre seats,
Its not a recent van, I wish :) 1995 nearly vintage now lol

If you can leave your heater on its very lowest setting it will keep it above freezing inside the van..if not a small mains powered radiator/shed heater on its lowest setting and on a timer so it only runs a night will keep the frost at bay..and keep you warmer if you do any work daytime.
