Hi All

Has anyone got to the bottom of portable broadband, or does anyone have a list of freebie WiFi areas, like McDonald's, etc.

Going abroad soon, probably to France so would be nice to know. Cheers

BT Total Broadband customers, can join BT FON and get free wifi using part of other customers broadband:cool:
Option 1 will give you 250mins/month free. A map of participating customers is available online. This is slowly becoming worldwide.
Otherwise ask in Hotels if you can have a beer:cool: and use the wifi. I have not been refused so far:D

Happy Camping:)

I'm ready for my trip to Europe, used to just stick my wifi dongle on the end of a USB extension lead. Been trying this out & can get a bit more strength & more wifi using this. Wifi dongle cost 10 euros a couple of years ago, 'dish' made from a sieve (if you hadn't guessed) cost 2 for a pound from poundland & the cable was from poundland. Tripod is donkeys years old & was going to throw it away. Took less than half hour to make.

There is a thread on the Out and About forum running at the moment from Bertie on his way down to Portugal & he seems to be picking up wifi mainly from McDonalds.
