Has anyone tried using Britstops for a park up? I’ve not heard of them before but it seems like a good idea to have a meal and a pint and not have to drive off. There used to be pubs where they’d let you camp in the car park if you had a meal, but this is a more formal arrangement with a fee and a £33 membership fee.

We have used them since 2013.
Happywiththem until recently, prefer farm shops to pubs.

New owners have taken over the website. The yearly fee has increased, no book anymore. They also include a lot of so called aires with a charge which is not the original idea of stopping at someones business and supporting them buying their products.

We haven't renewed this year, because not getting enough value from them .

I liked Britstops in the past and found their book very useful.
I believe the founders decided to retire and sold the business to the American company Harvest Hosts, which are a similar kind of concept and is popular in the US.
Since they have gone App-only after the sale and with no reference book, they offer very little extra than the various other apps such as Park-4-night and similar.

If you do decide to join, you will be able to find a discount code to lower the price.

most if not all britstop sites are on the s4s app shown with a union jack logo , when the concept first came out i joined and even sent in a couple you used to get a free year if they used one , nowadays i normally ring up and say i want to come but im in a motorhome and may i stay overnight only failed twice in 20+ requests one was just a manager against company policy another was having a bit of a battle with locals complaining

I suspect that most of the locations that Britstops list also appear on other parkup directories (e.g. the Location App here and a couple of others that I use but forum rules don't permit explicit mention!) ISTM that the main selling point for Britstops is the alleged lack of obligation to actually buy from your hosts... but that just doesn't sit right with me. If I 'do' a pub stop, I'm at least going to have a few jars and probably a meal also...

Yes , people parking at pubs and not using them has caused some landlords to exclude us .
