Researching what gas set up to use and am finding conflicting info on what British forecourt LPG contains as presently 'safefill' is my preference. I have read on one site that it is 100% propane and all the others stating different percentage mixes of propane and butane. Does it vary with supplier?

I'm not sure why you are 'worried' over propane/butane mix, most modern set ups use a universal regulator which suits both.

is it a bit like Diesel, in that in the winter additives are in the diesel to stop it freezing and LPG will tend to be Propane due to a lower freeze point?

We hope to use the van in late autumn and early spring and I am not pleasant without caffeine. Quite possibly eventually you would only be left with butane therefore 😡🤬☕

We used a filling point in Germany and the current percentages for propane and butane where shown on the pump

Ty,

That's another tick for Safefill then as I can top up a half empty summer bottle knowing I will be reducing butane percentage.

Nice one (y)

We've had no problems with our refillable bottles and filling either from my local bulk sales OR from garages/small independants
All through summer/autumn and through christmas/new year.

You can do that with any refillable, put as little or as much as you want in when you want 👍

I used a safefill bottle last winter with no adverse affects to answer an earlier comment, regulators have nothing to do with it, the salient point is butane has difficulty gassing in low temps. Does it distill in the bottle, it is possible , but will generally gas during the day when ambient temps increase subsequently burn off

Some forecourts don't like you connecting straight to a bottle. They are happy if you have a fill point though. LPG Shop in Leicester sell a refillable plastic bottle made in the same place as Safefill bottles but for fixed installation. We have two and they only weigh 6kg each.
