lovely place

Only very slightly off-topic (well, about 3 miles to the north-west actually!), there used to be an excellent wilding (and fishing) spot on the south-east bank of Lynn Celyn, where I enjoyed many a fried breakfast and undisturbed night before the access road was blocked off.

Anyone travelling along its' shores today should spare a thought for the people of Capel Celyn, the village that was drowned in order to build the reservoir. There is a small memorial chapel just off the road on the northern shore, where some of the occupants of the old village churchyard were reburied.

Really fancy going but worried about access, heard its hard to get down too, is this right?

If you mean the village of Capel Celyn, no it's not too hard to get down to.

You'll just need a submarine or diving kit as it's submerged at the bottom of the reservoir.....:goodluck: :)

I meant penmon, the pics you've posted looks great, i wanna go

Penmon is a well known fishing spot on the corner of anglesey penmon - Google Maps, the road out from Beaumaris is fine but there is a road down from the village of llangoed I would not like to take my van down(Im sorry I couldnt tell you which one because my friend was driving in his Landrover) .
I think you may be confusing it with Llanddona Llanddona, Isle Of Anglesey LL58, United Kingdom - Google Maps, I have heard from locals it is a beautiful beach but I think this is the one that has tricky access(they dont see many motorhomes that way, I was asked by a local if I was lost when my sat nav took me the scenic way through the village of Llanddona to my friends house at Llangoed), next time Im up there I will ask my friend for a look down there in his Landrover to check access.

Jane, the Penmon google you have posted is not the spot I have talked about, it is the next one about another half a mile towards Puffin Island, although still the Penmon area.
Access with a M/H is absolutely no problem at all.

I wasnt sure which one you posted, I know there are many places to pull in along the road to puffin island from Beaumaris and access is not a problem but some of the little white roads inland from Penmon to Llangoed are a little steep and tight for a large motorhome, beautiful corner of Anglesey but I usually spend my time there catching up with friends at their house and miss out on the scenery :rolleyes2:

Jen, the photo above is my M/H at the Penmon location, it is no problem at all, I have even seen a couple of artics drive by.
Just go through Beaumaris and head for Puffin Island, look out for the signs and you can't miss it.
One of our regular haunts! I thought you knew that as I have posted about it many times.

Sorry G, memory not too good these days, must be all them fags i'm having :scared:

Llanddona is fine for access provided you take it really carefully.

I visited last year with my Elddis coachbuilt, taking the road down from the TV transmitter located to the east of the beach. The road is steep and narrow, but not much traffic on it. This road was recommended to me by the beach warden as the best option.

It's a superb location, very peaceful, with a beachside cafe and toilet block (which has an outside tap on the rear wall).

No dogs allowed on the beach during the high season, but there's plenty of dog walking off the beach.

Highly recommended :)

head out of Beaumaris keeping castle on the left for approx 1 1/2 mile turn right signed PENMON keep going till back to seaside, i've seen artic wagons down there so no probs for campervans/motorhomes.Infact my profile picture was taken there so if your vehicle is same size or even bigger... no probs

A few years ago, we actually had a meet which moved around in a little convoy and 5 vans overnighted on Beaumaris green.
This was before any signs
WE started in Caernarfron, then Beaumaris, on to Llanwryst and Betwesycoed

Are there signs at Beaumaris green now? because I often see vans overnighting up there.

*****, sorry for the late reply, absolutely no probs staying on the Beaumaris green, i think they get the huff when motorhomes pay £2:50 then stay a few days, we always move off after brekkie to the penmon places youv'e shown then return mid/late afternoon to stay another night (paying again) also not many council workers work over the week ends, I stay there lots of times with no trouble or being asked to move on but to be honest when there i have a tipple and even the threat of the police won't make me move from anywhere. I also stop other places UK wide and have never been asked to move, maybe because we arrive late on and scarper early morn leaving the place cleaner. Now back home knackered.:sucks:
