Hello,

This new account from Santander looks interesting, £17 per month which includes UK and Europe Breakdown cover plus worldwide travel insurance and a few extra bits and bobs.

Santander Edge Current Explorer Account: Info

The breakdown cover does not seem to exclude camper vans/motorhomes but there is a size limit and no age limit. Cover for Europe is 90 days, I'm sure I read that but can't find it now.

"The vehicle must be roadworthy, within 3.5 tonnes, no wider than 2.55m and when driving abroad no longer than 7m or higher than 3m."

"A Private motor Vehicle not exceeding 3,500 kg, required to be licensed for use on public roads and registered in the UK. Excluded Vehicle types include taxis, ambulances, rental cars, hearses, trailers, attached caravans, and any vehicles used by driving schools. We/Us/Our Allianz Assistance or Insurer."

I think the travel insurance as standard is for trips of 28 days but can be extended. (I'm sure I read that somewhere but can't find it now).

It seems good to me but would be good if some of you clever people could have a look and give feedback.

Thanks

Nick

We switched from a Santander current account to a Nationwide Flexplus account and got £175 cashback. Nationwide's breakdown cover for motorhomes up to 7.5t and 8m long best suited our 4.2t 7.3m, but Santander's is up to 3,5t 7m. Nationwide's covers any vehicle you are in, whereas Santander's covers any vehicle you are driving.

Well my MoHo is under 3.5 so i Looked a bit closer

"you and your family can enjoy worldwide cover (except Cuba) " - I have a house in Cuba

"(cover ends for everyone once the account holder is 75) " - I'm 77

"when driving abroad no longer than 7m " - 7.5

"Excluded Vehicle types include trailers," - Use a trailer for SWMBO's trike

"You must tell Chubb if you or anyone to be covered by the policy:
  • have any pre-existing medical conditions and what these are. - loads including Herat attack and Type 2
  • have been prescribed any medication. You must take any medication recommended or prescribed to you by a doctor." 14 pills a day plus injections

Reluctantly ]I'll stick with my current Travel (£4,500) and Breakdown (£200) cover
