Hiya irenerobbie,

I am no expert in this field but I do know that the 2 main clubs CC and CCC have had a lot of praise for their recovery schemes when someone has had problems in Europe.

I.m with whoever Saga use but touch wood never used them, however, friends of ours, also with Saga had an accident in Spain and were a bit dismayed that Saga don't work weekends, pretty important i think.

Breakdown cover is just another insurance policy. They always say "Don't insure if you can cover the loss, it will be cheaper in the long run".

If it ever does happen, just pay the local garage out there the going rate. I've a friend who has two or three executive cars, Jags and BMs. His insurance policy... the cheapest third party cover he can find. Controversial maybe, but effective for him.

Saga

Surely Saga have a 24=7 breakdown service, I hope so as my european cover is with them, i'll be checking my breakdown cover

Safeguard Insurance provides full European cover for 12 months and included in this is breakdown recovery. Happy travels

Sorry Julie, 0ur friends were stuck in the recovery yard until Saga answered the phone on Monday morning

breadown or not to breakdown

Ta for info folks much appreciated. I had concidered the "just get intouch with the local garage" approach and i think thats what i'll do. i'm not that bothered about being repatriated, i,ve broken down in worse places than spain.
