Brand new here - Kangoo question

Hi - I've just bought a 3 year old Kangoo estate, with back doors, and three rear seats (essential for grandchildren). However, I've really bought this for occasional wild camping. I've searched for various conversion options and would rather have a professional fit out. Can anyone tell me who might do this?

Thanks

Susy

Welcome

Susy,

Welcome to the site.

Sorry I can not suggest anything in reply to your question but sure somone will come along that can.

We wild with our grandchildren too and have a lovely time, wee bit worried about the yougest this winter. Last winter he could not walk but now he is mobile, heater could be a bit of a problem. Justnhave to see what we can work out.

Err - Well House, Holmfirth brings up a junior school and/or a cattery ... have I got this right?

Thanks

Susy

By the way, did you want to keep your back seats? Maybe a back seat which folds down to form a double bed with an extra cushion.

I'm just thinking how to squeeze in the kitchen sink/cooker :D Sometimes they slot them in at the back and you cook outside, underneath the raised tailgate.

Congratulations on your purchase - a Kangoo is great for wild-camping! There are no problems with height barriers and they look just like a parked car so don't attract attention when you're parked where you perhaps shouldn't be...

I started off with the basic van which I partially adapted for camping and then bought a Kangoo Roo conversion by JC Leisure of Winchelsea.

As well as JC Leisure, Drivehome do a conversion but you can also buy conversion kits for a DIY job if you fancy it: Amdro Alternative Camper Conversions

If you're interested - here are pics of my basic van fitting out and the professional Roo conversion: http://www.wildcamping.co.uk/forums/show-us-your-van-motorhome/6332-kangoo-van-conversion.html

I really like the stealth aspect of this conversion. I can't decide whether to put windows in my van or not. It's a question of stealth mode versus campsite acceptability. I'm thinking maybe front dark glass windows and wheel trims but not go faster stripes and "Hey look this is a motorhome" graphics :D

Given a choice, I would definitely opt for windows in a van, preferably opening for ventilation. My van has windows in the rear doors - but they're a second best to rear windows.

Inside, windows would add light - also good for keeping an eye out for prowlers. From the outside, it would simply look like a car so is probably even more discreet than a van!

I was going to use mainly rooflights for ventilation and light. Probably no windows in the bed and shower areas, just roof ventilation but dark glass windows at the front behind the cab. Decisions, decisions. I mix wild camping with site use so I'll have to be fit for both.
