hi all. how is it that when you find a nice spot to stop for the night boy racers with mopeds turn up riding up and down being a nuisances sometimes for hours or pulling up in there cars opening the boots and playing loud music this happen at Calais aire near the docks about 3.00am till 4 or 5 am which in many places woke most people up and it happens in lots of other places in France especially mopeds in Spain also . it seams to be a game for them because they no we are trying to chill out and there is not a lot we can do about it and when it cost you money to stop it's a bit annoying . happy camping

the answer is get out have a word tell them you arent impressed but maybe they could have a night off and leave you in peace . be friendly but let them now. works for me. they usually apologise and move on. yes its a chance you take but i find they dont do any more bother and off you go to sleep. best wait till there are alot of them then they all know you arent afraid . sometimes it can be a bit threatening to get out but if you dont they stay. best not threaten them just explain you are tired and need sleep . cheers alan.

Couldn't agree with you more Alan! I've tried it both ways. Unfortunately the wrong way first and got into an argument. A lad in the back of the car pulled out a knife and went to get out. Luckily I had my dog with me and he's a big lad - started growling and the lad quickly backed off! We moved on!

Second time (not far from original spot) went out, had a chat, then asked if they'd mind letting us get some sleep - no problem!

.in my opinion thereaint a lot we can do with these blights on society, you cannot reason with them .if you try to reason with them they either annoy you for longer or if there are more than two of them they start to get nasty .ring the cops? ha ha all they tell you to do is move ,why should we ,we arnt doing wrong its the boy racers that are in the wrong but the cops dont want to know baisicaly they dont want to be bothred. i did hear that a new law may be introduced banning young drivers out after dark . to save them from killing themselfs ,lets hope they bring it in if only to cut the anoyance to us down.p.s i know of one instance of bother with boy races, where a van full of andy blokes turned up at a place wh ere there had been a van had had hassle with the the hot hatch brigade,,,,,,, justice was duly metered out

I remember one Aires where the local Oinks would stop half way down the parked vehicles and then turn their music on flat out. As soon as some one came out of their vans they would roar off between some boulders that had been placed at the end of the Aires. There was just enough room for a small car to get thru... there was :)

I think i have learnt, whilst wilding ,along the way that car parks are more like a magnet for these dickheads, and that if staying in a car park you should pick one with caution.I am more inclined to find an alternative to a car park.I would prefer to wild in a village or on a road of a quiet street, to a car park these days.
When we are full timing we will scope out the area we will stay for a week or 2 and on arrival cycle about and find some nice quiet areas. With your screens up or curtains pulled accross in a quiet street somewhere you are likely to get less problems than being in a car park where you are more likely to get hassled by perverts and the hot hatch brigade.
It would be nice to get out and punch or hit these people with a nice tough piece of wood, but you have to think that your wife or partner may be along with you and so you have to think of their safety first before putting the world to rights, its just not worth the hassle.Better to drive away from it all.
Where the hell did it go so bloody wrong with the world i ask you?
