Boxer horn replacement

My 99 Boxer horn has failed.

There's power to it, but it doesn't sound.

I can see the horn, but I don't know what needs to be removed to access it.

Can someone advise please?

Thanks ...

I'm sure Aj will have an answer to that one:D

Sorry I can't help you, but a short while ago, a thread was on here about the very same thing. Cleaned the terminals I believe was the answer then.
Good luck.

hi canals man ive had trouble with my horn. i took out the pssenger side headlight out and the front panel that runs along the front. above grill it just pulls of but be careful . and then you can get to the horn i took mine right off and sprayed w d40 on it and hey prsto it worked

I've just had a look at the 'van - removing the headlight seems the sensible option.

As far as I can work out the headlight is just retained by three bolts. There's a spring attached at the side as well ...

see... see... i do horns me :p... me and horns are good together...
you should hear the 1 i have on the bike....:eek::eek::eek:

the spring releases the side light if there is a nut on back of horn undo it then retighten it

Right! Job done ...

Headlight comes out quite easily once the three bolts have been undone (10mm), the connections for the headlight and sidelight removed, the vacuum beam adjustment pipe disconnected - and the indicator light assembly removed by undoing the spring clip.

Then remove the horn from the bracket (13mm).

But don't do what I did!

REMOVE the fuse for the horn - fuse 12 on mine, fusebox in glovebox - BEFORE removing the wires from the horn. Otherwise you will get a short from the permanently live feed to the horn.

I bought a replacement horn of the same type at Halfords - 'Ring' high tone at £10.99.

Note that you need a high tone horn if you are replacing like for like.
