Hi, I need to top up my screen wash, but alas the bonnet release catch will not work! Any ideas please? Tim.

Get a glamerous assistant to operate the release lever in the cab whilst you apply downward pressure to the leading edge of the bonnet (bouncing it up and down can help too sometimes (the bonnet.... NOT the glamerous assistant)

And if that doesn't work remove the front grill etc etc and operate the catch from under neath ,or take to Pug garage (recommended)

when my glamorous assistant arrives home we will give it a try. Thank you.

It worked a treat - with my glamorous assistant on the lever, and me pressing down on the bonnet, it opened easily. Whilst under the bonnet I easily managed to adjust the tension (simply moving the cable to the next slot) it now works easily one handed as it should. Thank you once again. Tim.

Happy it sorted it chap.....

Most bonnet releases are cable operated and the cables settle/wear over time...
A little downward pressure (ideally from a glamourous assistant) often removes enough spring tension on the locking/anti rattle pin to allow it to operate....
Lubrication is often lacking too (right at front of vehicle in salt spray etc).

I held back from suggesting the liberal use of lubricant whilst glamorous assistant vigorously applies pulling method. Dunno why, 'cos it clearly worked!;)
