Bloody weather!

I'm sitting in the van in Dinard and it's lashing down. I got some brake fluid today, but there still seems to be an intermittent problem, although no sign of a leak anywhere. My wife and I aren't actually speaking at the moment, as I've been talking about jumping on the ferry tomorrow and heading back to the UK, which won't make me popular with my daughter, but having looked at the weather for the whole of France it looks as though we are going to have to head right down South to get any decent weather. I'm the only driver and don't really fancy driving so far down, then having to drive back, apart from which hay fever is driving me mad and when we went to Portugal I was ill all week due to the orange blossom. Looking at the forecast it seems that Scotland, where we were meant to be going, now has sunshine...
 
Don't bother coming back yet Chap,it's hissing down in Bournemouth.At least you've got access to cheap red wine and baguettes :tongue:

Yes, I noticed that when I looked at the forecast for the UK.

As for red wine and baguettes, I don't drink, although my wife does and all the bread we've found so far has been soggy inside. Could it be that the art of the boulanger is dying out? We visited the local real, as opposed to super, marche today and it was very hunger inducing, like the Naschmarkt in Vienna. Local produce at it's best, including fresh fish, which we have for dinner, although I have to admit that as I don't know the French name for plaice it involved some pointing on my part. I then cocked up by offering a 50 Euro note instead of a 10 Euro note as I'd just been to the cashpoint and the lady on the stall burst out laughing and said something in French which I didn't understand, but could have meant 'You can have both of my daughters for that' :D

Strange thing, this speaking in tongues, but the longer I'm here the more I realise just how many words of French have crept into our language. Anyone from the West Midlands will realise how the German words 'Bist' and 'Bin' are in common usage, mean roughly the same and the locals don't realise they are speaking German.

How long are you in France? Sunday onwards around Nantes is forecast a weather change with sunshine and no rain. Well that's the forecast.
 
hi get down to la baule .lots to walk around even if its rainy. bet its dry there anyway. lots to see just slowly drift along .you could go to redon .lots of big hyper markets ideal for just window shopping .
 
it is much nicer when its fine and sunny, but don't let the rain stop you enjoying yourselves guys, i'd rather be over there and wet than here, working, fed up and wet....
 
Not much better here in the Sunny South, I was able to wash the van today including the roof as we had a super sunny morning, I was on the van roof in just shorts, of course it is raining now, Yesterday we had a weather window and I cut my front lawns and hedges before the rain set in. I have a Plum tree in my garden and it is loaded with Plums but they are going rotten on the tree because of the rain I guess, the Apples on the Apple tree seem all right though, So stay in France if the weather is your only concern.
 
Sounds to me like you need to bleed those brakes M8 That will occupy Ms Trecker for a while :lol-061::lol-061:
 
That's what I thought.

But as I'm about 600 miles from my toolbox and haven't found a Halfords, I'll just have to give myself plenty of stopping room.
 
get to a bricolage, diy, or a quincaillerie, ironmonger and get a spanner,clef, for the brake nipples,i can't translate that,its too filthy,just point at the salesgirls chest and make unscrewing motions,you'll be fine

might be a 7mm spanner .but any garage will do it for next to nothing .
 
The weather here has been warm and sunny ALL DAY today!!!!!! Was quite nice yesterday and is supposed to be quite good tomorrow so long as the area of rain doesn't move further north than predicted. North Yorkshire is the place to be at the moment.
 
A friend has just had a similar brake problem, his foot brake pedal was sinking after a few seconds on braking, it was discovered that there was a leaking seal between the master cylinder and the servo, there was NO loss of fluid, may be worth checking this.
