It looks good but wouldn't chop as fine as the Zyliss and probably as much effort. Are you going to Moffat, Rob? You could have a look/try there?
This one runs is more powerful and will be better for soup. The USB 200w ones seem to be aimed t smoothie making.
The batteries are rechargable from 240v.
You could recharge at home or when on EHU. Charging from an inverter will also be fine because the current draw will be a lot less than 240v blenders.
What about a mouli blender - the type you use to make baby food? No electricity required. Pop the pulped veg back into the liquid and voila - thick soup.

We have a small pull string blender in the van. Haven't tried to make soup with it yet, but did make falafalls and it worked well.
