Guess what, I thought I would know a con when I saw it. Went to a car boot and there was this fella selling this glue that stuck all things.....you know the type. He was only selling this glue and showing how good it was by demonstrateing sticking things and then straight away asking people in the crowd to pull it apart. Well, it impressed me as I thought it would be a good thing in the m/home. I paid my fiver and could not wait to try it. Got home and tried it on two five pence's ( Im not tight) and it was hopeless.......did not stick anything like he showed it. Either he had something else in his bottle OR the things he was using to stick together where treated in some way. If you see him ask him to stick some coins together from your own pocket before you buy. !!!! and using the same bottle you intend to buy off him NOT the one he is using.

Yeah .always be wary of any demo's !
i used to see this guy demonstrating a fantasic oven cleaner at a local market, he reconed he used to get the old oven doors he was demonstrating on from a scrapyard ...very impressive, so one week i took along an old oven tray . he nearly s*hit himself when i stopped him during the demo and handed my carbon encrusted tray over .........needless to say he made a complete tit of himself trying to clean it . he didnt sell any of the product to the crowd .
I was really dissapointed as i would have bought some had it worked

just remembered another !
a lot of years ago i was at an 'ideal home' type show watching a demo of a fancy slicer ( a mandolin , for them in the trade ). The guy held up a tomato and said 'how many slices could you get out of one of these with a knife'? ....he looked straight at me for some reason expecting an answer so i said 'a dozen or so' .....he said 'no chance' and challenged me to go on stage .so i did ......his laughing soon subsided when i asked him for a steel to sharpen the knife ,as he realised i may know what i was talking about . I carefully cut the dozen slices while the crowd looked on . He said yeah ...ok then..but how long did it take ? .........my reply was less time than it would take you to get the slicer from a drawer, use it , then wash it and put it away :D
i dont think the crowd bought any !

I was at an event over the weekend and the fellow with the stall selling the ratchet pruners that are "all over the place" at the moment must have been taking a break. So I picked one of them up and tried a fat-thumb sized piece of twig from the table. It jammed. I was trying to get the piece off the blade when the salesman came along ..

"Have you used this sort of pruner before"

"No - just seen them demonstrated"

So he tried to get the piece off the blade and failed, so opened up another packet and picked up a similar size bit of wood.

That one jammed too... :)

End of script!
