bielsa tunnel pyrenees

yes , but if going to my mates near llieda i use n125 route then go through tunel de vielha . tried all the routes through over the years but vielha or andorra i prefer . mind lately catch ferry to santander .
i think if i was not going to llieda andorra route would be my favourite if heading that way.
but just try it you might prefer it .

Andorra is nice, but a long drag up and over, have done the med side once and biarritz twice. So we are doing the tunnel, then to la fleche aire then oloron st marie aire then valencia, dont like being on a boat to long and the van is good on fuel so gonna drive down and make it up from there

i just find that travelling in late october or november isnt nice in france . windy , rainy . trees down . known bridges washed away . plus the ferry is cheaper than the fuel in my truck. also i now visit places in spain that have the stork migration south . its amazing . might take us two weeks to cross spain .
last couple of years we have spent a few weeks way above valencia on the coast as well.
never use aires or campsites . no need find nice places .
just slowly ,slowly slip down the coast . of course go inland to see mr spain . young ken in the hills ,ha ha .
took us 5 months to get just past almeria last winter . mind even that could be too quick.

If i could get the ferry for 250 i would probably use it but i can do about 500 miles for around 80 pounds over there, and the cheapest ferry to spain is 380 with another 300,400 miles to med so gonna drive again, but i will try the ferry one day,you have definitly got it sussed

use it and enjoy the scenery, if you get lucky you might even spot some eagles. Whether coming or going the scenery along the river is fantastic and there some good places for you to stop either for a coffee or the night. Did it last year on our way to Benidorm with friends and thoroughly enjoyed it.:drive::drive::drive::drive::drive::drive::drive::drive::drive:

lots vultures as well get along that way . mind have seen 10,000 cranes on lac de gallacanta . there was 30,000 the week before but they say upto 48,000 is possible .its near daroca .

Envious! May be I'll do it in January, who knows? I'll be picking your brains if I do, vwalan! :)

Bielsa tunnel

We used this tunnel in June this year. Beautiful Spring day.
No charge for the tunnel, opened in 1970. Looks more like 1870. Very narrow and poor lighting. Although built for two way traffic, it was alternate one way when we were there.
On this day we travelled from lak Caspe to Altea.260 miles too far for us and our 26 year old Talbot.
Spectacular views of rivers and mountains. Winter travel, think carefully.
The A123/n240 are both excellent. In good weather you can see, in the far distance, wind turbines which you pass later on. Snow poles are evident on these roads for miles, suggesting lots of white stuff later in the year.
Fuel is available at Barbastro didn't see any other.
Follow these roads to Lleida.
Video on YouTube of this tunnel.

Regards

Allen.
