i thought it was really nice how all us fellow campers wave to each other now i am not sure
somebody came flying round a bend not at a nice touring speed waved at us and swerved and took our mirror out and hit the side of our van and then drove off ouch smashed all the casing off too at least nobody was hurt just the small dints on the side and big black line

i think they must have got carried away - lucky you wernt all smashed up!

Did you get his reg or was it too late?

Craig

was he waving or telling you to get on your side of the road:p:D:D

we have this sorted now. As the coachbuilt has gone nobody now waves to us:( However, this means we don't have to wave to people who don't wave back:D

Hire drivers

Just come back from the Highlands and Skye we were more worried about the amount of inexperienced drivers in hire motor homes not giving way
we were towing and had few near misses towing uphill on single track roads with passing place drivers racing down as far as the could making me stop somtimes having to reverse back:mad: to give them way they could have easily stopped

We saw quite a lot of hired vans while we were away this time - more than usual. Didn't have any bad experiences with them though as you did.
I'm afraid that you're a better man than me Merlin, although I make a point of pulling in for all and sundry ( Dot keeps saying "why is it always us who stop for others) if someone deliberately passes the "last" passing place and makes me stop, it's handbrake on time and they either back up or go round me - if they can.
Wouldn't you think that the hire companies would give them advice on driving on single track roads etc? After all they own the vehicle that's likely to end up bent scratched or in a ditch.

Instead of waving, maybe flashing our lights at each other might be a saver option of greeting in the future, me thinks.

Yeah sorry about that but I was on my mobile phone at the time and had it in my other hand. I would have stopped but I was in a bit of a rush.

I tend to flash my head lights rather than wave, however in France I have found they don't always respond posably because flashing may mean something else:eek::eek:

Drivers on mobile phones

Yeah sorry about that but I was on my mobile phone at the time and had it in my other hand. I would have stopped but I was in a bit of a rush.

I hate to say this, but were is road savety for other road users if you`re on the mobile whilest driving? I regard mobiles as a hazard when driving. I also think that using the phone whilst on the move should be outlawed. In case you get cought by the law, and `god forbit' might have caused an accident or injured someone, you`d never forgive yourself!
If you want to greet other wilding members out there try quickly flashing your lights, its a damn side saver for all concerned.
