We will be leaving Sheffield in the next couple of days for France, and wondered if anyone has used a different route to get round London.
We have done M1, M25, Bridge, A2 and M2, also M1, M11, M25, Bridge, A2 and M2. Any other sensible routes?
Incidentally, we will be using the A2/M2 route because we need to pick up a passenger.:)

I like a lot of people travel at night if going a long distance so I always travel right through |London. Never have any problems, but then O drove for a living at one time there so know a lot of the through routes.:p

I take it that your vehicle is OK for the London Emmission Zone then? Our 2002 Fiat based does not conform

I agree with Spiritsfree, A1, M11, M25, Bridge. A2, M2, A2 Dover.
By far the simplest route. :)

I guess thats your quickest and simplest route from Sheffield. Depends what you are going for of course. I sometimes go in on the M11 and round the north circular to the woolwich ferry for a change of scenery. Takes any size of vehicle, and amazingly for London its free!! (due to some ancient charter granted by the sovereign ) But it might take an hour longer, and your vehicle does need to be ok for the london emissions zone (enter the registration number in this link to check Which vehicles are affected? | Low Emission Zone | Transport for London )
