Just booked tickets for the Belgium GP. Plan to travel from Calais towards Brugge, Gent, then on to Spa in three nights. Then return in two days via any route.
Please could any one advise of good Aires to use or for any POI that I should not miss. This will be our first time taking the M/home abroad so hope to make it special.
Thanks in advance,
Mike

I like the aire in Veurne. Its free and has got all the facilities. You can pay for a shower and for electric if you speak to the man who looks after the marina.
For Gent then the rowing lake by Yachtdreef is fine for a night or two. No facilities.

We stayed here for a couple of nights on route to Hungary recently, no services just free parking in a super spot on the dam, nice walks views and lovely town nearby .EUPEN N50.61961 E6.09098 Restaurant and activity facilities here too.

Personally I didn't fancy the overnight at Yachtdreef for some reason, possibly because there were no other campers there. There were however 3 or 4 parked up at the car park/ coach park on right just before the Yachtdreef parking so we stayed there (51 02' 45.50"N, 03 42' 07.77"E) No problem.

Oostende

There is motorhome parking in Oostende, very good for a first night. Follow signs to 'parking gratis 'Only a few minutes walk into town, supermarket near.

Thanks all

Many thanks for all replies, this site is worth every penny.

Belgian beer!

If visiting Bruges, be sure to go to Beertjes. It's a specialist bar in the centre if town with around 300 beers to choose from.

Welkom op de website van café 't Brugs Beertje

In Gent there is a similar bar called De Dulle Griet, where you can order a 1.2 litre yard glass of strong Belgian beer in exchange for one of your shoes as a deposit. The shoe is placed in a basket with everyone elses and winched up to the ceiling for safe keeping. You get it back when you return the empty glass.

Many thanks Croftland1 This was exactly the type of information we were looking for. If any one else has similar suggestions I would love to hear from them.
