What is the safe way to replace the main isolator in the MH and is it a case of using brute force to pull it out. I am unable to find an identical breaker will this one do the job?

I am assuming this is a very complicated type of fuse board?

Also looking to replace the https://www.halfords.com/motoring/b...s/halfords-leisure-battery-hlb681-957217.html
What battery do you consider to be a good alternative to Halfords. Wondering if this would be ok? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Snappy-Lei...d=1751543542&sprefix=leisure+ba,aps,97&sr=8-4

Thanks in anticipation.

You take the cover off the fuse box by unscrewing the 4 cross head screws. Then post a picture of the inside once the cover is off for further advice.

As for which make, it seems quite common for caravan manufacturers to use rather obscure makes. It does not really mater if you fit a different make, but they are not all identical. In particular the height of the bottom connections which usually clamp onto a busbar differs from one make to another. so best bat is take the old one to an electrical wholesaler like CEF and ask them to find one from their stock that has the terminals at the correct height.

But before you do all that, what makes you sure the RCD has failed not something else?

EDIT the one in your ebay link will be fine I should have looked at that first.

Thanks for that.

The RCD has been a bit iffy for a few months now. The button at the top which says "press monthly" doesn't appear to help like it used to. Other than that I am just whistling in the wind!

After you've got the cover off you slacken off the 4 connection terminals. To remove the RCD from the din rail there's a spring loaded clip tucked away at the bottom that you pull back by inserting a screwdriver and levering down. Pull the old unit off and snap the new one over the din rail hoking the top on first and pushing the bottom in until it clicks and grabs the rail. Then remake the 4 terminals connections.
The alternative of course is leave it until the blues festival Ral 😉

The last sentence made the most sense to me Merl.:)
The four previous sentences had me reaching for me mallet!

We should be going Ral so if you can hold on until then I'll swap it for you 👍 Otherwise a WhatsApp video call should do the trick providing of course you've got a decent electrical screwdriver and a fine screwdriver to release the din rail catch. If all you've got kit wise is a mallet anyway then........🙄

I will be giving the MH an outing soon, I'll let you know how I get on.
Thanks Merl.

Sorry to be OT, but which blues festival is this?

Steve

I don't need to say Disconnect from EHU before doing this but I will anyway! ?

Why do you want to change the main isolator? These usually fail because of loose connections causing them to burn out but there’s no sign of burning on yours. If your problem is that it is tripping out it is almost certainly something in the outfield circuitry that is causing the problem I have never had one of these go out of calibration in 40 years of working with them. !

I have ordered one now so might aswell fit it. If I still have a problem I've wasted £20! Looks like I might be calling on an auto electrician if the new switch doesn't cure the problem. 😕

Assuming we're dealing with the same issue you had late last year wasn't the problem something along the lines of the RCCB was switched on but not passing current until you reset it?
