Before dreaded ebay

As some of you know in a previous life before my head imploded was a dj in clubs and pirate radio specialising in 60s & 70s stuff with some 50s and the odd (very) 80s, so the upshot of this is that I've got between 2.5 & 3.5 thousand 45s languishing in the loft and my study (I had a jukebox at one time too so some have had the middle punched out) so before I put these on the informas fleabay at a ridiculas starting price, is anyone here interested? Remember of course that they need collecting and there will be some rare stuff, Northern Soul and a couple of signed ones too, LPs have already gone though as have the 12"ers too. So there you go, pm me if you're interested

I sympathise, I reckon I have 2 to 3 thousand singles from the 60s to 80s in the roofspace. I used to do a bit of dj too. My Saturday job was in a record shop and most Saturdays I left with a lots of records and owing more than I had earned. I reckon today it would be treated as an addiction and therapy or treatment would be offered!

Their disposal has been preying on my mind for years. I don’t think I have anything of value apart from the odd picture disc or picture sleeve singles, and I have no intention of trying to sell them singly online or at endless car boot sales.

Given the value of LPs at least my son in law has been able to take the better known or value discs, so those that are left are probably bound for charity shops.

The other problem is my collection of 00 gauge engines and rolling stock. They probably have value, but haven’t figured out how to move them on.

If I can sort these dilemmas, then I will have completed my ‘death clear out’ aside from the Motorhome which I am hoping to have a Viking funeral in off a Pyrenean high pass into the valley below like a flaming comet.

Do keep us informed as to how you dispose of the records for my inspiration.

Sue has made me promise not to die before her for similar reasons.. I had a few LPs that were of value and a couple of rare 12" singles too, but I let them go together in a job lot rather than be picky which I suppose will happen with this lot

I to had lots of 00 gauge all makes, i used to do swap meets years back, this year and last i put them that was left on ebay and they went like a rat down a drain pipe, be carfull and look at prices as some are forth a clean fortune.

I was involved with a community radio station in Bollington, near Macclesfield, for a number of years.

The guy who started the station, Nick Wright, is worth contacting to see if he is interested, or perhaps knows of others who may be interested.

He's a big Northern Soul fan and DJ.

If you want an easier way of getting rid of them you could try your local auction house perhaps? It may be worth splitting them into 2 lots over 2 different auctions given the volume of them.

We took our small collection to a local man who went through them and contacted us with price. He was actually very fair as far as we could work out.

When he watched me load the LP and put the needle on the record he was amazed and could not comprehend the technology. This is the kid with all the technical gear to make his own music and play music in Newcastle Clubs.
