beer prices in Scotland

Hi all,
I am planning a trip to Scotland early this summer and would like to check if it is worth (pricewise) to bring my own beer with me or to buy it in local supermarkets.
So please give me an idea how much will be a can (still sold as a pint?).

By the way: Is canned British or Scotish beer available or only continental
(Heineken etc )

Hi oTTo,beer prices are pretty much the same all over the U.K in supermarkets you can buy canned or bottled beer.Popular brands of lagers carlsberg, fosters etc and european/asian beers, lots of different types of bitters are also available 20 440ml cans are priced around £9 with the lager beers more expensive at 20 440ml cans £13.Occasionally there are deals on with 2 packs of 20 440ml cans for £16 so it pays to shop around. There are also Aldi and Lidl super markets which are cheaper hope this makes sense,Andy.

Mein liebe oTTo,
1. Don't bother :eek:about beer prices in Scotland, only bother about whisky prices (and as the £ sinking to the € it should be OK for you )
2. What a sacrilage: Heineken  Even the Dutch don't drink this piss themselves, they export it
3. If you come through Belgium, have your first aid ration here
4. All these advice are nonsense for it comes from a wine-drinking Belgian :D LOL
Zum Wohl

I do not really look for foreign brands:D even not for Aldi or Lidl:eek:

But if local brands are to expensive I will bring our German beer with me
(bought in Luxembourg or the Netherlands because there is no stupid
consignee on the cans).

Mon cher Belge,
I remenber the exchange rate of nearly 12 DM per pound ( 50 years
ago, and the question of a Scotish shop owner: you don't have real money ?whilst paying with an ENGLISH pound note :) )

In the past the exchange rate € to pound was so poor to travel to GB.
But now it's time to go.

To sum it up: It seems to me to bunker beer on the continent:cool:
and buy all other things in th UK.

Hi oTTo,
sound like your going to have a great trip, may see you in Scotland at some place.
The supermarket beers over here are not that expensive, Scottish Bitter, Yorkshire Bitters etc, and just think of the weight on your travels. Chances are the van would be overweight if you intend on bringing the beers with you.

Happy Camping:)

Hi Pioneer,
weight would be no problem - my MH has a 4,1 to registration:p
As an emergency equipmentI will bunker on our 2 crates continental:cool:
