Looking for a Bedford Bambi/Romahome. Ready to go for summer with MOT and Tax ideally. Within 120 miles of London. £2000. Any ideas?

Bambis are like gold dust to get hold of - we waited nearly a year before finding ours. This was our first van and we had some brilliant times away in her.

That was a few years ago and we have now sold her as we needed a larger van for our growing family.

Wishing you lots of luck in your search and don't give up - they are worth waiting for.

That's definitely not what I wanted to hear  I'll just have to view/bid/beg for everyone that is available. Thanks for the luck sounds like I'm going to need it!

Bambi Owners Club

Have a look on the Bambi Owners Club website as there are often vans advertised for sale and it a good source of useful information - bit like here really.

quick story for you...
late last year we stayed at riverside in southport for a few days and the bambi owners club were holding a rally there at the same (we had a bassecarr). the members of the bambi club invited us into there group for the weekend and we had a great time with them all. they are very proud of their bambi's. there must have been about 30 to 40 bambi's there.
they invited us to their march meet but after checking a number of times on their web site the meet wasnt listed.
try going on their web site and contact them, they might know one of their members who is selling one.
they have a news letter called " bambi's tales", im sure theyll send you some back copies.

I didn't even know that their was an Elddis version of the Bambi so that's opened up a few more searches. I've sent 'donm751' an email so hopefully he/she got that. The Bambi owners club forum does have Bambi's come up occasionally so I'm keeping an eye on that.

I hear good stories about their reliability if treated gently! I hope these are true I'm planning a two month tour of the UK and hoping with a wing and a prayer - and a service of course - that it'll manage it.

Thanks for your help and I'll keep the forum posted on my success or otherwise - hopefully I'll have some pictures to post.

On a side note I've had an insurance quote for an '86 Bambi from Adrian Flux for £400 3rd Party which I thought was reasonable considering I'm under 25. Any ideas of smaller/other insurers who might give a better quote to a 24-year-old?

there is a lot of help on rascal enthustiast site and you have good mech in dartford who speacialise in rascarrys {rascals +super carrY +vauxhall all same engines }

There was a great one all lined up on ebay and its been removed by the seller despite saying its the only place it was listed. Very annoying!:mad1:

I bid for a Bambi on ebay a few years ago and won - yayyyyyyyyyyy....... I was so excited.

I contacted the seller to arrange payment and collection only to be told that he couldn't sell it to me as it had gone too cheaply. He had not set a reserve price or 'buy it now'.

After a long discussion on the phone explaining that, under ebay rules, he was legally bound to sell it to me he put the phone down.

Naturally I contacted ebay and left him negative feedback to which he promply responded by leaving me negative feedback too.

The moral to this story - maybe the Bambi I saw listed on ebay wasn't meant to be mine.

There will be another one which is destined for you - you just have to be patient and keep looking.

Bought my Bambi!

I am now the very proud owner of a Bedford Bambi. A little bit terrified of her mechanically. Sure the love will grow. Pictures to follow!

Really pleased for you - glad you found her so quickly. You've now got the whole summer ahead to enjoy your travels.

Looking forward to seeing some photos.

Hi

:wave:I bought a Bambi in march off ebay and it is my first mini motorhome. I have taken it to the yorkshire dales cheshire and staffordshire so far and it has gone like a dream. They are not the fastest things on four wheels keep to about 50mph and you will be fine, but they do not like hills so you have to crawl up them very slowly..lol,
The bed is very comfy but i suggest you either buy a thin quilt or a mattress topper to make it better. I love my little bambi so far, it has everything you will need in such a tiny space..they dont call them the tardis for nothing..!!
Im also a member of the bambi club and the people on there are really friendly and helpful too like this site, if you have a problem someone will try and help you also its good for spare parts.

Hope you have lots of fun in your new bambi..!!!!:have fun:

I'll think I'll have to get hold of a Haynes and the owners manual. I'm in Easte London. Its in for a service on wednesday so I'll get any really bad news after that.

The thing I'm really not sure about is rewiring to fit a split charge relay. I seem to have a leisure battery in the locker (by the gas so that has to be moved) but its not connected to anything... wierd. Seems like everything is running from the main battery.

Anyone know the cost of getting this done professionally?
