Beaten by an Indicator Cover

Hoping someone has come across these lens covers. I need to change the rear right indicator and am pretty stumped at the moment. Its seems to me that the lens cover indicates that to open you lever something at 3 and 9 o’clock at the side of the lens. I’ve tried getting under the gold lugs, of that’s what they are, with a small flat head screw driver, but no chance. I have found them on a suppliers website and I include a photo of this too. I have tried to find something on YouTube, etc but with no success. Any pointers would be helpful.

What is the MH and what year? Have you tried a bladed knife? Is there access from underneath or in the garage/locker?

Couple of small flat screwdrivers should make do, both at the same time ,and some one levering it away also, all at the same time if a bit fiddly. Maybe just buy the tool 😉

I would buy the tool, two flat screwdrivers will not locate into the D shaped protrusions I guess will be moulded into the light body, with the strap D shape ends in location, allowing equal pressure to draw out the light body.

What a faff thought, who ever designed this type of light must have been having a bad day.

It’s a 2025 Dethleffs Globebus Camp T1 although I do think the light array does have a retro look to it.

Thanks Terry, I hadn’t found that myself using google. I will have a go and order one . I did actually speak to the Dethleffs dealer who said it was a real pain to do but he said that you needed two flat headed screw drivers and use both at the same time. Have you had experience of something similar Yeoblade? I had a go at this but from the photo Terry posts, I was clearly poking about at the wrong bit. I’m not very good at this kind of thing…..as you might have guessed.

You say you have to change the rear R indicator, just the bulb or lens?, are they not LED on 2025 van. Warranty work?
Anyway I've not change one before but have made various bent small screwdrivers to emulate special costly tools in my work on repairing various equipment for many years. Even the OE experts struggle sometimes on these things

I had the same light fittings on my 2006 Burstner but they were not LED. Luckily I never had to change a bulb.

Tah Dah! Thanks lads for all your help. The light fitting mover slightly from side to side to allow me to get a narrow screw driver down the side to push in a sticky out bit without too much trouble. Reassembly was surprisingly straight forward. Goodness knows how the special tool would work.

Well done Sandy, and you are obviously picking up engineering jargon "sticky out bit" :ROFLMAO:

Was the bulb fubared, I guess all is well now?

Surprised to see Bulbs in a modern van but that'll be a £1 repair rather than many hundreds for a Led fitting
