This is it.

Ok This is the copied content of the forum post. Thought it may be of interest as it was certainly causing problems on my PC .

Taken from FJR owners forum

Did you know that the BBC iPlayer uses P2P technology to get the programs you want to watch - and that it uses YOUR computer to share it out again? And that you cannot turn it off?

No? Neither did I until I wondered why my disk drives were hammering (C: running at 99%) and my network running when I wasn't doing anything. So, I investigated and found a nasty little program called Kservice from Kontiki running away. A bit of internet checking and I found all about it.

So, I have uninstalled iPlayer and the whole system is much quieter and more responsive now.

If you feel your system should be running faster, check out if you have iPLayer loaded (also called BBC Dowload Manager). If so, get rid of it.

Why not just start the Kontiki service as and when you require the Iplayer? Use Administrative tools,Services,Properties of Kontiki service then start or stop as required. If you remove the program you will only have to re-instal when you wish to watch something elsethat requires downloading.(WinXP - I know nothing of Vista).
