Batterys in Surrey?

Hi, I live in my 2008 Swift Suntor 590 RL (with two solar panals) full time and my single 110AH battery is starting to fail now, so I would like to know the following...

1) would you recommend getting one huge AH battery or two smaller AH batteries in parallel?
2) If you recommend 2 x batteries in parallel, then do you know anywhere in Surrey that I could buy & get them fitted, as I would need a new battery box fitting?
3) Best makes of battery?
4) Any idea of cost for batteries and fitting?

BTW I'm going to the Hampshire campfest if anyone wants to say Hi.

Thanks everyone :0)

Your welcome to come to us, but whatever you do, don't buy cheap batteries, they do not last, false economy.

Buy good brand ones and from someone you can take them back to if yiou have a problem later.

Hello,

Replies to the following;

1 x large one for sure, that's if you have room! If you have one battery, power is in and out of one source. Sure you can use very thick battery cable between the 2, but it is still resistance!! The other risk you run is if one battery fails, 90% of the time the second battery will also be damaged as a result.

Sorry no can do on this one, as I am based in Somerset. Sorry :sad:

Open lead acid batteries from Banner have a very good reputation as reliable. I personally have run an Elecsol 270Ah sealed single unit and have had no problems at all. Please note that I use this battery alongside a 1600W inverter, which powers a microwave and the wife's hair dryer. Let's just say, I certainly give it a good thrashing when we are away in the van!! Plus the unit comes with a 5yr warranty (although some people have had problems claiming on it).

As for fitting, well i'm afraid that will be down to the fitters. I would guess an approx of no more than £70-£100 inc parts and vat. Make sure they do use a good quality cable, with a cross section of 25mm to minimize any resistance between the 2 batteries. You also should try to keep the batteries within 0.5M-1M of each other. Again this is to minimize resistance between battery banks.

Hope the following helped :wave:

It's wonderful to get answers to questions so quickly.

Thank you all so much :0)
