hopefully getting our first motorhome this weekend what is the average amperage leisure battery you guys use when i had a caravan think we only had an 85 ish amp do you need higher for a motorhome ?

We have two 95ah batteries and solar panel. This more than sufficient for our needs, even 3 weeks in France.
Good luck with your purchase and enjoy

Our motorhome came with a 80 aH gel battery, but we replaced it with 2 x 110 aH acid batteries. We don't have a solar panel but we can easily cope with a 4 or 5 day rally without draining it completely. We were given a small Honda Generator in exchange of OH doing some work for a friend, so if we need to charge them up should we be at a temporary holiday site for longer.

Hope this is helpful.

2 x 100 plus 160w of solar. This is in a big van - in our T4 we had 85amps and were fine with it.

I use 2 x 110A = 220 Ah

As to whether you need more than 85 Ah, it depends what appliances you use and how long you plan to stay in one place without hook up.

If you just want to stay a couple of nights with LED lights, small TV and water pumps 85Ah is fine. If you only use campsites 85 Ah is fine. That's why they fit 70 to 90 Ah standard as 95% or people just use campsites and never wild.

If you want longer stays or have things like inverters, blown air heating, halogen lights, big sound system and TV you'll need more.

With our 6 berth m/home we had 1x 110Ah battery, but have upgraded to 2 X 115Ah batteries and a 100w solar panel, connected so that when the leisure batteries are full, the solar panel charges the vehicle battery. The longest we have been on batteries only have been 3 days, so not had chance to really give them a test.

Boat Switch

I have 2x85Ah with 80w solar. I have added a 12v boat switch . You switch between Batt 1 or 2 or 1+2 - great way of ensuring I never completely drain both batteries together.
