I have Autosleeper Talisman , that has been off the road for the past two years . I have just put it back on the road and everything seemed to working fine, so planned on having a couple of days away .I hooked up the night before to to get the fridge ready, and a few hours later noticed the leasure battery was red hot I unhooked but the battery was finished any idea what the problem may be?

Yep you left it to die and plates to short out, batteries must be kept on a float charger 24/7, even then old style lead acids have a life span of 3 to 5/8 years at best, even then they go down on storage.
Dont start or run the charging altenator to you have fitted new units or you will damage it.

What type of battery is it and has it been left uncharged for It was a standard lead cell battery that charged up ok the first time I hooked up. Everything worked on the 12volt system. It was onl the next time I hooked up that th battery fried I was thinking it might be the van charger may be at fault ,and over charging. And what do you mean by new units ?

sorry don’t think I posted my reply correctly
