Bamburgh Castle management have banned Motorhomes and any vehicles over 2m high, parking completely this year (2011) on the beach car parks and fitted hight restriction barriers, they claim the area is in an area of scientific interest and we are damaging it, but have not stopped other vehicles using the car park, so to me they are basically saying we are not wanted. There is a car park opposite the castle that when I last there took coaches. I do not know if this one has restrictions on Motorhomes parking however. The castle management claim there are plenty of caravan sites available in the area.
Sites in this area are either ALL static or close as soon as the summer school holiday end. CLs are not abundant and are often fully booked out of season. Even the C&CC site at Beadnell closes early September.
Parking overnight is not tolerated in most car parks along the coast. There are no dedicated Motorhome spaces that I know of in any of the car parks.
The area is missing out on much out of season tourism.
