Hi, there. I know Christmas is on it's way and all. Though one thing I would find very useful is if Santa Clause' gave us the option of International Mot. That gift would be perfect for us M'homers. Who else agree's?

I think it will remain a fantasy , my time living the other side of the channel, that Gibralter place had British looking bobbies and red telephone boxes a non starter, The Spanish don't like anything with a near side door I am told which raises an interesting observation member states of that evil EU still do there own thing Brussels isn't teliing anyone what to do, and if they do the Froggies particularly do it there way or burn a few flocks in protest

Channa

My Xmas tree has fairy lights

I think your idea is "away with the fairies"

BTW baloney is far too polite a word to use with regard to 8R3x1T

Not being rude.. just honest

International MOT? would that mean an MOT would incorporate all the rules of all the various Countries?
If so, no thanks! the UK MOT is far more 'forgiving' when it comes to modifications compared to most major European Countries.

I know if Santa had all the answer's...

It is beyond my comprahension to hear the word echoing round with no traction excuse the pun. They have naughty data bases, International Police. World spy agencies, Nato. Union's of exhorbitant pay. Planes anywhere and today I have to trail miles to refresh something that in most cases is already covered by careful ownership and maintenance. I think we can conclude we are devolving not evolving on this ****** tangent.
I just thought it would be nice that someone could verify something met a Standard much like Electronics say than the Draconian Overlordship as present requiring its own chunk of common sense.:boat:

If it is time for redrawing all these Legal Fiction boundaries, can we not dare to dream of a new way? Mot here is now also kept Online. Could we not have somebody on our Travels capable of confirming if our Vehicle meets certain standards. We are way behind even Industry has ISO etc if you have never heard of it. I think it is between dream and desire. Though I am not saying an Mot from Bangalore would suffice or Ultra Strict President One either. Just some way they could even issue you temporary Brit Standard' one say if you are on adventures and need time. They seem to come around too soon anyhow. I am not for the moment concerned with ****** as they do not explain what Sovereignty is! It just seems we are too small for them to make life covenient unlike other groups out there.:blah:

I remember a time before the mot when we could fit old shoes to are donky,i may add when it came in he was not fond of the exhaust test probe.:scared:

Nag bags and Piggy banks.

I have both sets of relatives who fought for King and Country. Sorry not quite pedantic enough there. They fought for freedom of Europe and there wasn't much that couldn't be solved without a cigarette and a wee dram. If a Pal needed something he got it. Today we have bureaucrats having an awful time of it. I am afraid it has become like a disease of the mind. If that' knew what real difficulty was instead of trying to enrich the obscure we might get somewhere. Also I often wonder what this freedom is nowadays and certainly know they wouldn't survive on ration packs. If it comes to it the next van conversion will be a Willy's Jeep:nothingtoadd:

You may only be able to go away for 90 days per trip soon so MOT not an issue.

Not quite right - according to the comments in the news today.

The EU no deal plans are quoted as saying - For stays of over 90 days, a residence permit or a long-stay visa will be required.

Draft regulations and no second vote etc.

Unfortunately we are in the territory of paragraphs. Ideals and who to enfarce. Sorry the spelling mistake is correct. It is likely to deliver stock market losses, currency devaluation, and eventually certainty. Rome was built in a day and that bloke who just resigned is responsible for all of it. Then also to the Legislators who pay to be certain it stinks of NWO and also the Public spititng there dummy out over spilt milk. We are probably going to need to resurrect our own identity in the process. I think they maybe have incentives in hair thickening products also. Just don't let them interfere with Santa's sleigh before Xmas comes. He has his own clause on that:scared:

I remember my mum describing watching the bombers fly over her house and drop their deadly cargo, and then she would go off to work and make uniforms for the airmen.

Only thing was in her case the Bombers sported Roundels and the Uniforms were for the Luftwaffe :)
(I still used to remind her who won the war :raofl: )

Berlin Berlin

Yes it was more than freedom it was for life itself, within a few generations here we are battling through our soldier politicians over liberty. Napolean and others were equally cantankerous so each has its own take, well at least you weren't just another hole in the ground. I think it might be easier to understand if we had the right of the Tank Regiment at the moment though lol:yeahthat:

personally i put all my vehicles in for mot at the garage a mile up the road that ive used for years, not sure id want to use a foreign garage , working to god knows whose rules and probably speaking a different language. its totally unreasonable to expect a spanish tester to be able to read and understand british mot rules just as i cant read the spanish ones. receipe for a rip off IMHO

as for ****** ,theres no point getting high blood pressure about anything reported in the media until april when its got a chance of being whats actually happening.

until then even if junker et als words are reported accuratly its highly likely to be not whats actually going to happen.

simple question ,what happens to spain, portugal and greece if no british grey pounds and tourist pounds get into their economies next year?
could be a boost for morocco, west indies etc

question 2 what happens to mercedes, audi ,vw,renault ,citroen etc if they sell no vehicles to uk.

nissan , toyota etc will be laughing their socks off.

I don't know if anyone has any experience of getting a Campervan or other vehicles MOTed in a non-UK European Country? I don't directly, but I use a Forum (and run a seperate Forum) where members have reported their experiences.....
In Spain and Italy a vehicle will apparently fail an MOT if any changes have been made from Factory spec. so for example on a car, Side Running Bars will be an MOT fail. In Italy, fitting a roof Fan or removing a Bulkhead is a MOT fail unless it was carried out by an approved and licensed company.
France is reportedly a nightmare when it comes to changes and the garages make up their own rules to their own benefit.
Make a Campervan in Ireland and you have to pay 13% of the value to reregister as a camper and then prove various things are licensed. In Oz, you cannot fit any AC electrics yourself by have to use an electrician who is specifically licensed for Mobile Vehicle installations

People don't realise how lucky they are in the UK when it comes to DIY Conversions (and DIY House stuff as well for that matter).

Think you will find it was the russians that won the war.

There are EU directives that are shaping MOT requirements across Europe and there is a schedule listed here. How the EU Roadworthiness Package affects the MOT - Matters of Testing

It actually makes sense to me. Its a complete PIA for long term travellers to have to return to the UK for an MOT or if your a dozy git (cough) and forget to get one before you leave for six months only to realise when your three months in it would be handy to just pop into any approved station and get it done. Obviously they would need to deal with the quirks of each countries differences and Right hand drive / left hand drive etc. A nightmare but it would make life easier for motorhomers.

I think it would be good, because of the actual cost of our process compared to others. Of course most vehicles by their very nature are International. They are the most owned Corporate products after White Goods. Computors etc. I think Mot + Service folk are the last remaining fragments of British Auto industry which is now largely 3 or 4 big brands and the rest a Supermarket. I like Brit stuff because it can be unique and custom whereas abroad Europe etc they have standardised blueprint Vans by certain manufacturers. It seems a little Archaic inconveinience. My concern would be people fluffing up an old classic. My take is if an Mot dude or rep fills in flelds on the DVLA W'site or what have you. Then why wouldnt it be possible to go Contactless sorry have some way a Tester elsewhere could fill in the required fields and let us get on our way again? You would need to be able to source any parts you needed as standard but other than that it would be useful. Its not in my interests to go wrecklessly travelling miles from home. I am sure most of you are the same. Hotels are occasional for me. :rulez:
