Bala Lake

Hiya folks,

we were planning on spending the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend down in Wales, and we were thinking of heading to Bala Lake for the first night as it has plenty of space for the dog to run without being near the road. I was thinking of parking down the bottom end on the rough unsurfaced part of the car park. Has anyone been there recently? I know there's NOP signs, but wondered about wardens etc coming round??

Cheers

i spent a few nights here last year wild camping in baja at the nrthern end thier is a large car park with toilets but i thin thier are restrictions, if you go a little futher thier is a small industry estate with a post offce depot and furte rup a ffo factory the main cr park at bla lake near the type of visitiors centre is pay n display as i remember with no parking over night, at the far end near the railway stion thier is a small pebble type car par which was quite and with no resrtrctions also if you drive round the lak half way round the other side of the mai road thier is a parking place no pay and display quite with grass n access to the lake peeble beach over the railway lines but toliet but not sure if you were able to park oernight they might have a barrier i cannot remeber. in baja thier are some good places to eat at a resonable cost hope this helps

enjoy your trip

That little spot has been closed off with a barrier now. I used to launch my dinghy from there & there would be a couple of MH's there regularly, but it seems they are closing down the wild spots as many of the local farmers offer sites - at least two are right on the lakeside but pricey.

Up until last winter the car par with loos in it mentioned in post 4 was OK for overnighting, but go in, turn left and go to the far end of the car park. You're more away from the houses there, one of whom really does not seem to approve of us contributing to his little town.

I've stayed there a few times without problem, but not for a year or so.
