hi all first of all welcome to all new members and hi to all the old ones .well back in bricks and mortar again, aand on propper broadband .seems there have been a few changes since i was on here last ,for one seems we have lost the bright colours we had with the site bit dull now but it is getting near to winter .we did have a great time in the van but i noticed that it was getting slightly harder to find places to stay, and as we had a little bit of bother with the hot hatch mob now and again we decided to find a place down here in wales . might be able to get on the site a little more than of late

thanks mate ,as for the extra space we have now well we have found a small one bed flat (oh they call them appartments nowadays) on a new build estate in north cornelly near porthcall small but just the thing for us . not too far to walk to the beach and a nice local pub as for the bother with the yobs in the little hatch backs ,it was not too bad just a few eggs and tomato sauce on the van shame the dident give us the bacon and sausages too:D but now we have best of both worlds now so looking round for a smaller van so we can have a few days away and still come back home .

or the bill's :D welcome back, bet tha misses yorkshire

hi ***** no damage to the van .but it upset linda a bit, 3 cars with 4 up in each . they were a bit chicken as they ran when i got out with a nice big bat . as for the van it has been totaly reliable for the 18 months or so we were in her fultime in fact it has been no trouble in the 4 years or so i have ownd it , needs a couple of tyres now but i only had to renew the front brakes thats all while we were out in it . out of mot now as we have been getting the flat all done .wont take a lot to re mot so unless i get a half decent offer as she is i will re mot aftr xmas and then advertise it later on

Mandrake, you will find quite a few changes and Phil is still working on the system. Several of the older members have returned all be it with new user names and we have quite a few new members adding a more versatile slant to the forum. Unfortunately lot of the banter has gone but the serious questions seem to get answered much better and more precise.
The knowledge is still here and the site is growing every day.

having trawled through to see whats been happening latley i see what you mean about the banter .some of the sparkle seems to have gone, still a good site though

welcome back

thanks its nice to be able to spend a little more time on here now and pass on any help i can to anyone thinking of fulltiming .the yobs were no prob realy and they were not the reason we have stopped full timing .basicaly i think the need to have a permanent base is very important just in case of illnes or any probs you encounter with the van that cannot be overcome quickly, unless of course your bank account is bottomless :D our plan is to get this place as we want it and then either get a smaller van or do a self build on a small van ,something so we can have a few days away then back home .

Hi Mandrake good to see you on here as always,:):) sorry to hear about your experiances with dickheads,it seems to be a bi- product of the disintegration of society in this country, just one of many it seems.Just been to the beacons and had a smashing time.I have found that i am more coy on places to park these days with respect to car parks and the like,we try to keep away from populated areas in general and try to park away from it all.It is a skill in itself but one that you learn from when you experiance the kind of pond life that most of us have at some point whilst wilding. For us in our learning curve before full-timing,we have experianced boy racer arse holes(who always seem to be brave in large groups and at night-time) doggers(the sex offenders register would cure this problem if only we had some sort of law and order in this country) and the latest problem i experianced was getting the motorhomes front wheel bogged down in a rut i could not get out of whilst near the usk resevoir a few nights ago :(:(:(
We could do nothing as it was dark so had a sleepless night and then tackled the problem in the morning.Of course it would have helped if i had of had a shovel on board to start with:(:(:( In the end we were aided by being pushed out by three passers by from aldershot. We were etenally gratefull, and then drove to a car park to clean up the mud and dirt in our hymer.
Still its a learning curve and another lesson learnt.
I believe you need to do a lot of planning whilst wilding, although i sense that France would be a much better place for wilding with fewer problems, which is where we want to spend much of our time along with greece.
I hope you both enjoyed your experiance and have had your life enriched by full-timing.I expect you are now living near your daughter and recent new born so i expect that having a base near family suits you both now.Good luck in your new home:)

hi thanks for the reply a lovely place the brecons but then again there is some stunning places down here .the fulltiming we did was brilliant and an experiance we would not have missed i would recomend it to anyone .we were forced into it in one way and realy and truly was not 100%ready but that is aqnother story .i do think that the main requirement is a base just in case the worst was to happen ie illnes or a failure of the van conssidering ours is 27 years old we had no probs and found even though it is a reletavly small van it was ample for us ,i cannot say we had any bad times during the 18 months or so but i will agree that there are some undesirables out there the doggers can be a nucance they are a blight that realy needs sorting out we did find that there is a particular problem in the brecons more toward the merther end in the laybies near the lakes its a pitty the police dont take action against these people and leave us alone. the trouble is we are a soft target they know we will comply. what i cannot understand is it is an offence what they are up to in public, but we saw two men at it with 3 or4 others watching in the middle of the day no thought that there may be children out with there parents, these people need to be put away, anyway i will leave it at that as you say a total breakdown in society
