Back again in the UK.

7 weeks in Oregon with my daughter, husband and three legged dog...now back to UK prices after an exchange rate of $1.96 to £1.
One highlight was a drive just down the road to see this little beauty

Sadly, no pictures were allowed as Marathon only permit their own photographers to ensure they are seen as they wish, but it is as amazing as it looks.
Signs of a financial slump in the US. are everywhere (Marathon would even accept an offer well below list price), even beggars on street corners with large scrawled signs. Ford ending its production of big pickups and taking up to $10,500 off their prices, dealers then guaranteeing petrol at $2.99 a gallon for the next 3 years.
Walk into any jewellers, camera or electrical goods store, any upmarket clothes store using your English accent and you are king as its the Brits who have the money to spend.
Strange country, narrow minded in some ways. One often seen bumper sticker said "If you are from another country you are our enemy", yet individually very friendly.

yes my daughter in new york she has been there 2 months she says things seem to be cheap but she hates the food so she cooks her own or eats italian food
