Finally after a long break away from motorhoming we are back in the loop. For those who remember my beloved Hymer was vandalised and ended being written off during Covid. Could have cried, indeed I did cry long and hard. I loved that van and lived in it for a long time, personally I would not have returned to the house but my husband was not as keen and then a brush with cancer also changed plans. We picked this swift up Tuesday so on a steep learning curve as everything is so different to the Hymer. I think we will leave going abroad until next year when I figured out the van plus all the changes needed for the dogs. A job im not looking forward to is finding where all the stuff was shovel around the house when emptying out the Hymer. A trip into the attic if I can find a cool day and a dig into the shed will be needed. Good and bad changes are that all the LPG places here are now closed for miles around but have discovered a site about 5 miles away that has started selling LPG, not the cheapest at £1 per litre but when you can’t find any, beggars can’t be choosers. Anyone passing junction 9 on the A1 it’s about 8 miles away. They sell Gasbank refillable bottles, anyone know if they are any good.

You no longer need the antibody test. You must leave 21 days after the first jab before you travel. The worst thing is the dreaded AHC.
DEFRA have full details.

My best advice is get the dogs passports on your first trip, unfortunately you will need an AHC for each dog for the first trip. Belgium is good, I can recommend a vet on the outskirts of Ostende, France not so good.

2. Rabies vaccination, wait at least 21 days.

3. Animal Health Certificate, travel within 10 days.

We hope the pet passport will be reintroduced in the UK but don't hold your breath. As Sharon says, you could get one in Europe depending on where you go. That saves getting fresh AHCs for every trip. If you do need to get ab AHC there are companies who do them for around £99, likely that's cheaper than your vet.

Coming back is the same -

4. Worming treatment - you can't come back within the first 24 hours but must be back before 120 hours.

With eu passport what is the booster time, it was every 3 years here before. Are the EU ones the same

It depends where you get it. The closer to Northern Africa (higher risk area), the more likely it will be one year. In Northern Spain and the rest of Europe, its easy enough to get a three year booster. But Hungary, I think, demands an annual booster even though your last one might be recorded as valid for three - don't quote me on that, I'd need to check, but certainly at least one country in that area requires this.
