Hi
Has anyone else lost Sky News Channel 42 on their Avtex tv?
If anyone knows why or maybe where it has moved to, I would appreciate knowing.
Thanks

our domestic tv has lost sky news for the past week or so. mrs wants me to get up ladder and waggle the dish a bit. sky atlantic is also missing. both put up a no signal message.

Hi
My question is purely on the Avtex inbuilt system. No other stations are missing.

I’ve had trouble with the free view channels all week mainly thee sky types like sky news , 5 USA and others I googled it and read somewhere about digital antennas being upgraded and loss of signals in some areas short term whilst the upgrade is complete but I never checked how recent this was.

Thanks for your replies.
I am not quite sure what Colinmd means by rescanning.

Hi
I don’t mean to appear thick, but surely all the channels are pretuned into the Avtex set!!

I think that all freeview tvs require retuning occasionally as channels are added or move. One used in a MH needs retuning with each new location.
To do it there is usually a menu item to update channels or simply retune.

Not sure which model Avtex you have got, but if you've lost Sky News I'm guessing you are talking about on FreeSat.
Sky News has shifted frequencies several times this year, for true FreeSat tv's (and sky boxes) this is not an issue as they automatically pick up the new frequency, but AFAIK all Avtex tv's are actually FTA tuners, they don't pick up new frequencies unless you rescan, then you will find Sky News somewhere down the list, and you either use as is, or have the faf of moving this new one up to channel 42.
p.s. I'm guessing satelite as you have not mentioned any other channels and on FreeView you would usually lose more than one channel, but similar would apply to FreeView.

Thanks for that. Of course we are talking about Freesat with an Avtex 185DRS.
Not sure how I search for the new frequency though.

You will have to select it through the menu button or similer, without one in front of me can't recall the exact squence.
Anyway you will have to play with it, or read the manual, not that I found that much help. Once you have actually managed to do a scan you will find loads of 'new' channels on the end of list, one of these will be Sky News, then you will probably want to move this up to channel 42, all I can say without being there to guide you through it, that it is a PITA. I wish they would build in a proper FreeSat tuner.
p.s. somewhere in the process you should see an option for "FTA only", choose this as I see on my Technomate I've got 400 FTA channels, if was tuned to all channels there would be hundreds more all of which can't be accessed.

If you want the latest news ask a woman.
Any thing Telly or Computer I just say Your telly lost a channel or Your computer seems slow just appearing confused usually gets it fixed, Often not as quick as I'd like but eventually

Hi. Thanks for all your replies. I have now found it on 269 and 277.
Goodness knows how I move it back to Ch 42.

Not an expert by any stretch of the imagination but when using an aerial with my Avtex tv which isn’t very often as I
normally use the satellite dish and a sky box I just re-scan everything time I move by pressing the AQT button.
