Auvergne and Burgundy in Early June

If we want to stay on a campsite in Auvergne or Burgundy in early June do we need to book, anyone know?

I get the impression they'll be mostly empty - that right? Things like on-site shops, bars etc don't seem to open until July and August, not surprisingly, suggesting it's pretty quiet in June.

Plan is to follow the weather - where it's sunniest is where we'll go.
