Several weeks ago there were a number of threads, on all the three big forums, bashing Autotrail, their quality and after sales service. Just to balance the situation a little, we thought we would report on our recent experience with them.
For several months we have been having problems with our Omnistep. It came out o.k. but would retract only with assistance and even that didn't work every time. We posted asking for help, but the usual suggestions of dust and grit in the step, failed micro switch or habitation switch did not resolve the problem.
In desperation and with not much hope, especially after reading the Autotrail forum threads, we emailed Autotrail and explained our problem. Within twenty four hours Autotrail were on the phone. After a friendly discussion with a clever chap there we agreed to get Sargent involved and we were refered to an even 'cleverer' Dave Chapman. Dave very quickly identified the problem as a faulty EM50 unit. This has since been repaired for the miserly sum of £50 including VAT and postage and turned around in exactly one week...........and the step now works, YEH! Better than ever.
So, thanks Autotrail, not just for a brilliant motorhome but also for your help in sorting out our step and a big thank you to Dave Chapman at Sargent.
