Autosleeper Duetto

My 1st post!

I am looking for our 1st camper van and like the look of the Autosleeper Duetto, but a couple of questions please:
1. I would prefer the SWB version but all the Duettos I've seen advertised are LWB versions.
2. What do you like about Duettos and why are they so expensive?

thanks

they are all long wheel base the only major difference is some are 2 berth and some are 2+2 berth.

The vans were expensive new and Auto-sleepers have a reputation of building high quality vehicles. Duettos have a high spec and all those extras cost money.

There is a shorter van which is the 'flair' however as it is smaller it does not have the bathroom. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORD-TRANSIT-2-0-TD-AUTOSLEEPER-FLAIR-/150603547109?

What year were you thinking of buying? Mine is a 1998 and about 18 ft 2 ins.(5.5 metres), the same as a medium wheelbase now. The only time that length comes into it is for turning or reversing. I fitted a reversing camera and sensors (belt and braces). Not very good at DIY but I did it myself no problem. The beauty of the Duetto is that the wheels are in the 4 corners so that you don't get a swing out on corners and they all fit in supermarket parking places. Also it has lengthwise single beds. Better for the loo in the middle of the night. All with autosleepers workmanship and knowhow. Why did they stop making them???

Try looking at Auto-Sleepers Symbol this is on the Peugeot Boxer van the 2.2 hdi being the best one this is a MWB van, on the shorter SWB you will struggle for 2 single beds even using the front seats

Thanks for all your replies.........

However we have definitely seen and looked inside a SWB Duetto last Saturday in Somerset(unfortunately not for sale-but the owners kindly let us look it over), can't remember the exact year but I think 93-ish, it had full bathroom/oven etc & looked a very similar conversion to the later up market Talbot Express/Peugeot Boxer Autosleepers we have seen.

Sigh....I'd love a Duetto(esp a TD) but my budget will only run to A TE(Talbot Express) for now......Sigh

We have owned a Duetto for a year now and looked at a Harmony which was parked alongside. We do not regret the extra length which makes all the difference especially at night. Build quality is good and solid - ours is 15 years old and looks like new. From my experience the LWB is as easy to handle as a Ducatto I owned a few years ago (panel van). and with reversing sensors (fitted by me in an afternoon) a doddle to drive. Not the quickest with the 2.5D engine but returns about 30-32mpg. Even with the extra length, still not enough room for both of us to follow our passion of photography so a rear box is being fitted to carry all the clutter from inside the van.
Good Luck and go for it - they are bombproof.
