Hi again all. Well after two years motorhoming, wildling mostly but also on sites we have decided to buy a newer model. Nothing at all wrong with my Elddis 120, its actually got £3000 in extras and is working %100 fine (ill advertise on here in a few weeks when im back from our hols) but whilst im fine keeping the 120 the better half wants a one of newer model, a one of that we keep for years. Shes had some pension money we didn't expect. Ive looked at loads and loads of motorhomes all different types, listened to folk on here and have seen a model we like from Auto Sleepers. I know nothing on them but have had a really good look at them as im ex quality control at a car company and they seem well built. Does anyone own one? I fancy a Broadway EK TB LK. Second hand of course.

Hi Toffeecat,
I had a brand new Auto Sleeper Broadway EB in 2014 biggest load of rubbish I’ve ever owned ( 6 Motorhomes 5 brand new ) always back at the factory 2 1/2 years old major damp in the rear.
Check fridge vents as they had lots of trouble behind the vents cracking and allowing rain water in.
Check the over cab window, wind it out and check that the window frame screws have not blown the fibre glass as mine and a few other owners were fitted with screws too long and they blew the fibre glass.
Plus lots more faults on ours.

John.

Owned a autosleeper cotswold from new was replaced after 6 months 4000 miles, crack in roof along with 28 other issues. I would not buy another but there again i would avoid vans that are not winterised. Id be looking in direction of hymer etc. Our current van is a B680 Hymer starline and its light years better than autosleeper

Just a word about autosleeper warranty ,fee has to be paid to transfer warranty or is void , water ingress warranty is not transferable to second owner . wind up roof lights break for fun , very expensive to buy but are well equipped driver's seat very difficult to swivel on Peugeot models hand brake very low for some people .better built than some makes ???.but only just .don't buy from a distant dealer as you will probably have several visit's for warranty work .they are very comfortable roomy vans , from Nuevo owner .

We are on our third Autosleeper first was a vw Trident which gave no problems at all, second was a Suffolk on a sprinter base again gave no problems whatsoever, and our current van a winchcombe which we absolutely love as the layout suits us, the only problem we have had is the gas tank over filled as the shut off valve must have stuck open, but seems to have rectified itself now, you don’t seem to read as many horror stories about Autosleeper as you do about some manufacturers.
But build quality does seem to be deteriorating as they get newer

Think this build quality is right across the board on all brands as they make them lighter for better fuel figures etc
Was amazed last show at Birmingham at the standard of all inc leading prestige vans

A member on here bought a new to him Autosleeper about 18 months ago. Beautiful condition, tbh I was quite envious,:D but he has recently discovered damp below a window.I have a similar dilemma, an older mo home that is ok, but I think i'm more inclined to keep mine on the road.

As usual you will only hear about the bad examples. A company doesn't exist for over 50 years if it produces rubbish. There will always be the poorly built item in any industry. At least with Autosleeper you can actually go to the factory to get problems sorted, not many other manufacturers allow that. I'm on my third AS (all second-hand), problems have been very few. Only one had minor damp, sorted by dealer. All other problems have been with items that all manufacturers use such as heater, water pump .

Thanks all. As im pretty new to all this, ive really been hunting around and seen some horrors from brand new motorhomes. Im after a two or 4 birth low profile no longer than 6 ish to less than 6.5 mtrs. Second hand 40 thou to high 40's. It is a shame to sell mine when its working %100 but as the missus says we only live once so why not! Must say I was impressed by Hobby and Hymer at a local show. Very nice.

My Mum & Dad always had Autosleepers. I've had 3 (still have one, it's for sale).

But I think the quality has gone downhill in recent years as they have switched from van conversions and monocoque fibreglass bodies to coachbuilt. I believe they are now part of the Trigano group.

Our illustrious proprietor, one Phil (Admin), once described Auto-Sleepers as going from the best UK converter to the Worst!, this was after discovering the faults & shoddy workmanship in his 2010 Duetto.

If a van is working well & giving good service why buy the possibility of a load of grief?.

A member on here, after visiting the NEC show last year, saw a £200,000 luxury van with MDF doors & iron-on edging on the cupboards.

My 2004 Symbol has done well over 100,000 miles & is beginning to show it’s age but I certainly won’t be getting a new replacement from AS, the new models are rubbish.

I’m too long in the tooth to do a self-build, so will have to find a small converter to copy my set-up.
