Auchan Calais BEWARE!!

We parked in the carpark at the Auchan hypermarket last saturday afternoon doing a minor repair to the van when 2 youths on bicycles road past, shouted something in French, threw a coke can half full at the back of the van and buggered off-B**t**ds.20 mins later a coach parked across the back of us and everyone including the driver went shopping. My Doris had just put the kettle on while I was tidying up outside, when I noticed a guy eyeing up the motorhome next to us then bending down looking under the coach. He noticed me and got up and walked off. I walked around the vans to keep a check on next doors van and noticed he had met up with 2 more guys, which in turn walked around the coach and tried to get underneath,to no avail. We waited until the driver turned up and checked the coach (the only good thing that came of this is one of them tried to get under where the black waste sluice tap was and the driver said it had a small seep)Poohweee;);)Mick.

Sorry everyone laptop had a glitch.Admin please remove one of threads, thanks,Mick.

Suppose you know there are many would be immigrants attempting to hitch a lift on or under a suitable vehicle in the Calais area? Have been for years.
Much more important......is diesel easy to get over there at the moment?

Yeah, through the years using ports and eurotunnel freight seeing them running at the side of the train trying to get on.But its the first time in broard daylight in the middle of a busy carpark that got Me.

Auchans fuel station was busy wed afternoon but no restriction on fuel and not to badly priced at 1.157euro before that we filled at St Valery Sur Somme intermarch was 1.154 euro with a restriction on normal pumps of 38euros and 68euros on the hgv pump(card tranactions) didn't see any more probs in the northern area.Mick.

Thanks for the info on fuel will fill up on Calais side, every little bit helps!
I've even seen illegals getting into curtainsiders at the ferry terminal carpark in broad daylight and thats in spite all the security in the area.

Never bother to stop at Calais any more, used to always have a few days there when they were a bit more relaxed about where you could park. The last time we stayed by the yacht basin some years ago the police came in the morning & told us it was not allowed. The next time we passed there later that year they had signs prohibiting motorhomes. Although we have never had any problems we thought it was possibly getting risky with some many illegals trying to get over here.

We stayed at the yacht basin late october (this year). Big sign on entrance....Calais welcomes all motorhomes to park here, 7 euros ! Nobody came for the money.

I'm only going by my own observations, but I've never seen the people that we take for being potential illegal immigrants doing anything nefarious' apart obviously from trying to smuggle a lift.
It could just be that they don't want to waste time in the nick which could be spent getting to the land of plenty.
No, the problems seems to emanate from the surrounding estates, Calais has a fair number of unemployed/deprived people.
