Only bank I've found not charging is Liber .
Charges seem to have shot up . €3.90 common but one bank (Caixa?) wanted €7.90 !

We use Halifax Clarity as well but only for fuel and emergencies, every day purchases and ATM withdrawals are done with the Caxton FX card.

Just paid 7 euros at ATM in spain for using my euro account Starling bank. 🏧💶.

I think (?) That if you have UK Santander account then Santander Spain withdrawals free . Please check. We have both UK And Spanish Santander accounts so works for us.

Do you know of you are being charged ?

Pre-****** the Caxton FX card had no fees abroad for either purchases or ATM withdrawals apart from the odd one but it always told you first on the screen so we would cancel and find another ATM.

We don`t keep much cash in the motorhome so regularly only draw out maybe 20 or 30 euros but do have a supply of coins for paying machines etc. etc.

While in Spain I Googled costs and found a list of banks/machines and there charges.

All machines told us the cost of the transaction prior to committing to withdrawal. Santander bank was the highest @ €7 per transaction (didn't withdraw from them!), La Caixa €2 per transaction.
NOTE: per transaction.

That does sound as though you are liable to ATM charges same as other cards .
Think , legally , they must inform you of charges .
Not a scientific poll but it does seem most now charge .
Range of charges I've come across is €1.90-€7.90 . With Liber being the only freebie

Just had a look at the latest T&C`s and they say it`s still free.

Some of them always have and you are informed as such on the screen before the transaction is complete.

Yeah, Turkey in Feb this year using Halifax Clarity card, unlike early 2020, couldn't find any ATMs that weren't slapping a charge on, a quite hefty percentage figure if I remember rightly (6%?). Something seems to have changed?
