Just had my agent in Portugal on the phone, after fighting for nearly 2 years they have gave me Permission to build a log cabin on a plot of land i have there. Now i dont know what to do the agent said now it has got building permission he can sale it very quickly at a good price. or build the cabin and then put it up for sale. I have always fancied living in one right near one of the rivers i fish on and have a good neighbour that will keep an eye on it for me.

I agree.
You could always make a bob or two, letting members park up, when you're not there, too.
A tap.
A manhole
An honesty box....
A doddle.

that'd be nice Ken, and good to have a permit , loads haven't as you know. are you allowed a concrete slab and a septic?

No slab but a Septic tank is ok but one thing i cant understand is if i let for holiday lets i must inform them got to look into that bit the agent has never come across that before, The company i went to when i first looked into them, said they can build them without a slab because they told me i could have problems if i wanted to put a slab down

Dont let as hol home but take a few bob for vans on site,as long as not to many and over done and tell next door whats going on there should be no probs.

Ken, if you want someone to collect the money from them, just let me know

Hi Ken
Well done. If you are not strapped for cash-- keep it and work out all of your option's. As Graham has said you can always sell at a later date. or keep it and just go fishing!.
Bye for now
Freddie:D

Portuguese agents are notoriously sparing with the truth, if you know him then you can probably trust him.
Of course he wants you to sell as it means money for him, keep it as prices are rising fast here now.
2 years is pretty quick for Portuguese bureaucracy, well done.

Hoiday home

Just a word of warning , I live full time in Portugal and would be very nervous about building a wooden cabin because of the tremendous forest fires we suffer from ,a lot of them started by idiots who like to see the fire planes in action. You don’t even have to be in a forested area as in the summer everything is tinder dry ,and often these fires last for days and travel many miles. Last year several villagers were burnt out near me with huge loss of life.

Yes i have thought about the risk of the Fires but i have the same risk here we have many fires in our mountain village but i have got a few estimates for insurance and not that bad so i will make my mined up when the company get back to me with a price for the cabin .
