I have a new toy

The ASUS Eee PC a very small laptop, weighs under 1kg comes with Linux, Firefox, an Instant Messenger & Email and built in wireless

It will easily fit in a handbang

It doesn't have a hard drive it has either a 2 or 4gb flash drive to save power. The 2gb is £199, the 4gb £229

It doesn't have a CD or DVD but has USB and card readers, you can connect up an external CD or DVD drive should you need to.

You can buy a cigarette lighter power cable from ebay for £15 or so.

It really really is good and so much better than a bulky laptop.

Yes, these look very interesting as a compact solution to carrying a laptop in the camper. I like the fact that it's a solid state 'hard disk' but I'd like a bit more storage than 4Gb.

I quite fancy using one as the basis for a sat nav system like Stephen Stewart has here

You can always use memory sticks to add storage.

I have to say I have never been as impressed with a little bit of technology as I have with the Eee PC. I was going to stick XP on it but the Linux is too good to bin.
