I recommended a tracker a good few years back, that you could put a Asda SIM card in that doesn't expire, providing you have credit on it.

I noticed on the 21st August that the SIM card is no longer recognised, apparently ASDA has now changed to Vodaphone network, so you have to get a new pay as you go SIM.

I've just looked at the website and it appears you have to select a monthly plan, which I don't want I was hoping to stick £10 credit on it and it to not expire until the credit runs out.

As anyone got any suggestions for a new pay as you go SIM that doesn't need topping up every month and has a longer expiry date please.

I use a 3 payg for the oh.Dont pay for any plans and she only uses it as an occasional phone.Credit just carries on but I make sure to at least make a phone call every few months.

I used asda mobile payg for years but now they have changed I have signed up for a 3 contract £5 per month. Didn't want to but cheapest I could find

The Wife and I have Lebara sims which is cheap and uses the Vodaphone network.

If you do it through the Money Saving Expert site you often get a slightly better deal.

As already mentioned make sure the sim card makes a chargeable call/text at least every 6 months. I have found vodaphone to be the worst to disconnecting the sim and keeping the credit money on the sim

Have had a Lebara sim in my tracker for a good few years I just ring it every 3 months and it texts me the location. Could do with getting it out and putting in a phone to see how much credit is left on it as last time I tried to check online it said it had sent me a code to log into my account.

It's not working as Asda has now switched from EE to the Vodaphone network, so I would need a new SIM. But have also to be careful as the tracker only supports 2G only

I switched to an Asda Vodafone sim for my tracker when giffgaff put their prices up. You don't have to have a monthly plan, I just topped up with a tenner and it works fine.
Have a look at the website and select payg, instead of the monthly bundle.
My tracker is a Tk103 which uses 2g, no problems.

Also, with asda you have to make a chargeable call, text or use data at least every 180 days to keep the card alive, similar to giffgaff. This shouldn't be a problem with a tracker, especially if it is used with gprs instead of text, as the cost of the data used is very small

I also use G/G and didn't realise until reading this i may have a problem so just to try sent the activation code and just got a dead link as reply which was clikable before ? still works when copied and pasted

I have the latest Asda sim on coda phone and you can just pay as you go without having to put £10 a month on it’s the same as you had but Vodafone
