hi all, we're planning on a first visit to Arran soon. couldn't find any reference on the sites pages so was wondering if anyone has any tips on feasability / locations for a couple of nights wild camping on this island. many thanx

Have not been to Arran since I was about 14/15 years old and we stopped in the Youth Hostel so I'm afraid I wont be much use on this one!

Look under "Buteshire" there is a reference to Arran there. I have posted on that thread. Sorry don't know how to do the direct link to the thread! .
We have been to Arran twice in the last 2 years, both times in the summer. The crossing from Claonaig to Lochranza is the cheapest way if you don't have any time restraints. We wild camped on the Corrie to Lochranza road where there is a car park for the start of a waymarked walk. We had a peaceful night and only woke when the walkers started to arrive in their cars.
There are forestry commission picnic sites on the east side of the island between Brodick and Lamlash, plus on the west coast we saw several caravans that looked like they were there for the duration camped on the beach. At the end of the village of Corrie there is a car park that I think had toilets. We stayed on a CL when it was time to "fill up and empty".
Hope this helps.
P.s we loved being able to get close to the deer on Lochranza beach!

yes, if you look at the map of arran, there is a single track road running accross the middle of the island connecting both sides, there ar several places along it, and not much traffic
