truckers...trying to get into their traditional lay-by stopovers
only to find a motor home or 2 occupying the spaces...

a question cus i wondered:rolleyes:... i'm not a trucker but tonight for example,
while blasting round the Cotswolds this evening on my bike,
i came across several motor homes parked up where i would historically only see trucks..

any truckers out there with a comment:cool:..
will it ever get to a point where we will be competing with them for spaces:confused:

rearguards;)

No its was like a section of the old north road that was by passed, lorrys have used it for years but now they have banked it up and grassed it over at the entrance :confused:it had a food van in for a long time.
To make drivers use the sevices no doubt:rolleyes::mad:

gypo barrier boldmarther...

:confused:now then... where were we... oh yes...

how long will it be before a trucker very politely requests a motorhome to vacate his overnight pitch :mad:

have you parked up in the middle of a pull in denying space for more than you:confused:...

trucker pulled in and had to drive through cus some plonker in a motorhome had parked inconsiderately denying space both front and rear to his 40ft trailer

....godforbid:eek:

what about the reverse situation:confused:... does anyone have any rights here...

interesting point,,,,but as a trucker ive only pulled into laybys when ive seen there was enough space,,,if it looked a little crouded i would carry on and find another layby with more room..

If it is the layby on the right going north near Bramham/Boston Spa turn off the one that dipped down it is because that stretch of A1 is now motorway standard so no laybys, did you ever stop there !!!

Why woud you want to stop there?

Trukers must get annoyed by MH parking in 'their' laybys:confused:

But why would you want to park in a truckers layby:confused:

Wild camping to me means 'wild' - somewhere nice and picturesqe???

I would never want to stop in a layby by the road? These truckers are workers, it is a job? we are on holiday/travelling?

I don't see why we (wild campers) and truckers (workers) would have any place in common????:confused::confused:

ok... so when you have passed 3 or 4 lay-bys and seen motor-homes
parked up for the night... don't you get pithedorrrrf with them.......
specialy as your "driving time" may be up:eek:

just wondered.. as yer do

i wondered the same.. but must admit... did it 1 time myself... out of desperation
... tiredness...long way from home... motorway all the way... late at night:eek:
etc etc...

When I'm parking up for the night I still want to be in a pretty place whether in the truck or the van, preferably near to a pub and a Chinese. :D

Main Road Lay-by Parking

on most lay-bys on busy main routes the road is covered in oil slick the same applies to lorry parks on motorways it is only as a last resort we would stop on one of these and never overnight.

I think most of the motor caravans that stay overnight on main road lay-bys are hire vans and overseas campers
