I'm trying to plan a trip in Wales, and will be quite dependant on public toilets being open for emptying the cassette. I've seen a lot in other places closed due to "Anti-social Activities" and wondered if this was the case in Wales??

The one I'm particularly interested in (that sounds a bit odd, somehow??) is at Llyn Clywedog, 52.4843, -3.5955 - Google Maps. And can you get water there easily?

Can anyone help??

Thanks,

I believe those toilets are open during the daytime, but I'm not sure about at night.
Most public toilets in the area - say, Llanidloes. Machynleth, Newtown, Rhaeadr, Welshpool - follow a similar policy: opening hours and charges when open.

However, perhaps you could enquire at campsites and caravan parks that you may pass?

I still bury waste or use the facilities of pubs, betting offices, restaurants etc, so I never had the cassette problem myself, when in that area.

Have a look at these 2 sites prickles, it seems Powys have a scheme to use private facilities in garages and pubs. probably the pubs would let you stopover if you asked.

Thanks for the help, shan't have to cross my legs too much now!! I'm intrigued by Powys's scheme, as I believe there is one in the Highlands of Scotland as well. I did find a website that would be useful for people with Radar Keys, ( Needaloo, Needaloo, Index ) and I understand an App can be downloaded from the Radar site. (App Store - Radar National Key Scheme App ) However, as I only have a primitive phone, I can't comment on how well it works!

If you get this far you could use our facilities inc water & cup of tea!!

Now there's an offer I can't refuse!! We hope to get right up to the top end of Wales, subject to hospital appointments and other disasters, as in theory we have from next Wednesday until 19th June to do it, so we might just take you up on that one! (Or perhaps we could meet up at Cwm or Chirk?? :lol-053:)

BTW, have you ever been to Shell Island? Is it worth going there, as I love campsites right on the beach?
